  • awesome lesson, told a lot of info i didnt know like how you should play the triad arpeggios on the low strings, and pick hard to get more delay. just a question, im getting my first delay and im looking for something that can do stuff like this, as well as echoplex sounding delay. is a carbon copy ok for this?

  • sounds great, who cares about the up pick - down pick bullshit, amazing cover.

  • that shit is about upstrokes is as dumb as saying you HAVE to downpick all of master of puppets!

  • @sunnyjim98 both of that "shit" are pure truth

  • @ablclanmarazm nope, how you play it is how you play it. there is no law, written or unwritten that says you HAVE to upstroke all of big sur moon, or that you have to downstroke all of master of puppets...

  • how do you get the delay effect ? what are you using and what do you have it set to?

  • how do you get the delay effect ? what are you using and what do you have it set to?

  • I have a slight problem with this, maybe someone can help. I use the delay on my amp (Peavey Vypyr 30), so it's tap tempo and all that. I saw another cover (it's played by a girl) and set my tempo at the same speed, picked the same speed, and approximated the delay settings pretty accurately. However, when I do it, my playing is automatically synced with the delay. I can get it to sound just like this, but I pick twice as fast, with 16ths instead of 8ths. Any help here?

  • capo

  • thx for sharing this

  • very good, flawless

  • Congrats on punking the upstroke nerd. HOW you play is hou YOU play it - My approach is down picking-Bucket's I haven't seen. People should LEARN from EVERYTHING - absorb all parts of life, music, and feeling like a sponge - then spit out your own version. I'm GLAD you played with alt-picking - this makes me want to practice it as it makes a great practice for timing with the delay. FWIW I like recording it without delay THEN checking my timing with my onboard delay.

  • you will make me cry dude...

  • Nice job man! Very well done.

  • Best explanation of this song on Youtube.

  • Nice...clean...

  • hey man what delay pedal should i buy? so indecisive cause im nb T_T plz help! thx

  • I'm learning this song since I've finally sorted out the delay...

  • Excellent tutorial. Were you palm-muting at any time?

  • Hey man, what do you think of this guitar? I am looking into buying one (haven't tried it yet). found one for £435 is this a good price (it's a lefty). Also, could you tell me what the neck is like. Is it more Les Paul style or Straty?

  • thanks man, this work ;)

  • damn why all videos of youtube about that Cort are with the YELLOW/Orange cort??? It looks like the boots of a prostitute :( red one is the best

  • U ROCK /,,/

  • great tutorial and nice playing dude. the sidebar comments in the video really helped!

  • how to do it with boss dd-7?

  • legit job man, sounded great!

  • @dshafe9791 It should be at about ~300ms, and the feedback at whatever you want, but I recommend about 75%

  • As promised to myself...tried it...for the first time i think it was very easy to pick up....but my fingertips are sore...need to practice more often....anyways thnx for the reminder to play guitar regularly...

    Cheers mate!

  • i'm sooo going to try this.... as soon as i get home...

    Gr8 cover btw!

  • hi, greet cover. i've a rp250, how did you set the effect? (not only the dealy)

  • *Runs upstairs grabs guitar and knuckles down with it...*

  • Hi Guys im learning this song and i have one question why everyone says that this should be only up pickings instead of alternate picking? Because im used to play alternate but if it does really make a big difference il play it Up-picking =)

    Great cover btw

  • @Noctizss It's an irrelevant nuance IMO.

  • Well done! But, judging from how your fingers moved..even if I looked up the tabs and practiced..I doubt I could do it that well. Fingers too short :(

  • @smkonwater23I don't know what that is ,luckily my hand is fucking giant , but i have a lot of friends that complain too...

  • Well done! But, judging from how your fingers moved..even if I looked up the tabs and practiced..I doubt I could do it that well. :(

  • very nice !!

  • yo you got it down for sure man but slow the delay to about 255 bpm and see how that sounds

  • how bullshit is this my amps delay wont go this fast wtf!!!!!!!!!! even though i try to pick faster than whats intended damn amp :(

  • @omeganukestrike Run the signal through a free computer program and out to your amp.

  • you did a good job with improvising the song.

  • its looks very similar to the ibanez szr520

  • ABSOLUTLY PERFECT!!!!!

  • what delay du you use?

  • is that an ibanez sas 36fm red flame sunburst? :p

  • @sjpavelski I'm terribly sorry.

  • @evtanoxx Actually, it's really up to you whether you upstroke or down stroke, however alternate picking makes the notes very slightly uneven.

  • @evtanoxx

no your awesome, thanks a lot! you really dont need to use up-picking the whole song, it sounds awesome even though ;)

  • @sjpavelski I disagree, On his studio version I swear he down-strokes.

This just sounds weird because their is too much tone and not enough bass.

He uses up with his live version.

  • @sjpavelski all of this song is played with pick-up

  • @sjpavelski

    is that even possible?lol

  • What model of guitar is that exactly? I know you said it was a cort...but I want to find one...its sweet. Thanks man....and great playing!

  • what kind of guitar is that?

  • @gdawg277 cort kx1q

  • this is prolly the best cover! perfect tone and playing! kudos!

  • omg, i love cort....even though i haven't played one ;)

would you recommend the kx series?

  • i have tht same Ibanez but mine's blue

  • @LilHawaii77 it's not, it's a cort KX1Q. but nevermind ;)

  • @evtanoxx oh haha yea looking at it again i can tell a little bit of a difference

  • @evtanoxx I thought it was that rare BC Rich N series that they made in the 70's and in 1999-2000 but I guess not :P

  • so there isn't a digital delay necesairy?

  • i think thats the best cover

  • hmm how do u know if its 290 ms? mu gear is a line 6 spider 3 30 watt amp help? if you dont mnd

  • this is the reason i need a delay pedal or at least a line 6 that can handle good delay

  • very nice lesson, thanks a lot, I thougt it was unreal to play for beginners :)))

  • I wonder if buckethead double picks every note when he doesn't have his effects on?

  • ty but will this work on an line 6 spider III amp 30 watt?

  • This is all suposed to be upstrokes

  • now upstrokes only... right???

  • that key is this in? B minor?

  • sweeeeeeeeeeeeeet. near perfect up to 1:20.

  • how do i get delay on my amp ? its one of they shitty cheap ones lol do i need a pedal or suminthin or can i like plug my lead into my computer and use some mad effects thing ?

  • so whats the pedal sound efect name that i can look for for this sound ?

  • Pro Man =D

  • @InDaClubX acutally its a schecter

  • Now it´s a lot easier to learn this awesome song ! When you take a look at the tabs you realize that this song isn´t so hard to play as it seems

  • Really? I looked at the tabs and shit myself. I am using a really intense tab sheet but, still. It took me a few play throughs to get used to it. Mine also say that you only play each note once and let a really sustained short echo do the rest.

  • of course it's played with an echo/delay^^

  • Finally got it. Any tips on the sound though, a little to twangy for my taste. Should I bump up the bass?

  • i have no idea, i play a bassguitar and i don't know anything about how to play the song exept that it's played with a delay and that it's played only with upstrokes and that it rules xD hope you upload you playing it ^~^

  • Well that was hardcore. haha nice job. :D

  • can you give a direct link to the tab you used? I don't want to learn to play it the wrong way.

  • do you think this is possible with a boss DD-7?

  • Awesome job mate...!

But to make it sound different do i really only have to pick once? i really can't...

  • @Fasanenn You have to let the delay do the work for you. You want the first repeat to be halfway between the second and third note you play. The echos are between the notes you're playing, that's why it sounds like a lot of notes going by (you're only playing half of them!)

  • @Fasanenn (continued, it kept saying "error" when I tried posting it all at once)

You have to play with it for a while before you get a feel for the timing, if you're playing notes at the same time the repeat is going off, which your fingers will want to do, you're probably playing a bit too fast. Once you get in the groove though, it is a lot of fun :)

  • @TSchellhous ahh okay thanks alot!

  • I came in expecting little and came away surprised and impressed, good job man.

  • nope, cort. cheaper, leaner, better ;)

  • Awesome. Great Job, Man!

  • Excellent work. Brilliant.

  • it's true man watch buckethead play it he uses only up strokes through the whole song i dont se how he does it though

  • hell yes, man!

  • thx man =) nice cover

  • Can i do it with RP 150 ?

  • yep, the 150 has a tape delay too (at least that's the delay mode I used)

  • @evtanoxx what about just an RP 50? Im a little short on cash since my amp gave out and i bought a new one

  • @rawrdinosaur11 " Buy " A copy of Guitar rig,

Assuming you have a line in input on your pc.

  • it sounds better with upstrokes because it makes the delay louder, whats stoccato?

  • jesus christ, spot on.. *****

  • Wow, what an amazing cover. What kind if Pedal are you using? It's really good. Thanks

  • delay goes for a bit to long..

  • gracias amigooo!! me ayudaste mucho con el delay!!! exelent class!! thank you so much!!

  • what kinda guitar is that ur playing? esp horizon? it looks nice.

  • it's a cort KX1Q. the horizon was my dream guitar back then, but the cort was only 500 bucks ;) by now, i don't really plan to replace it, it's a great guitar.

  • ya i have a friend with and ltd h-1001 in the transparent blue and thet thisg is sweet and he only paid 600 bucks for it brand new

  • there should be at least 100000 views dude!

  • awsome lesson man

  • this vid deserves more views! :D

Damn that was a great cover/lesson!!

  • awesome video

  • hey twitch was up this is way to crazy for me ill talk to you tommorow your friend gomez

  • Hey! ive got an idea! cant you just tab this video for us cuz its so fucking awesome? :D:D

  • thanks, but there are so many tabs for this song out there - I really don't see any need to tab it out myself. BTW I learned it by tabs myself. See description for sources.

    Best,

    Ev.

  • Good!

  • Man, this is one song thats been giving me problems trying to decipher it through the delay,,, but u made it so easy to understand! thank you, thank you!!!

  • exelent 5*

  • just cause you nailed that imma give you a tip:::

the VERY LAST note he plays is this on all 6 strings from E to e then back up from little e:

    E7-9-11-7-7-7e

you can basically Barre fret 7 all the way on 7, and just finger the 9 and 11 this chord gives you that ring sounding note he plays very lastly

slowly strum down, give it a second and then upstrum the whole chord so in reverse youd play: e7-7-7-11-9-7E

    your welcome ^^

  • Excellent tutorial. Thanks a lot. Anyone here experiment with slow modulating effects on this song? An auto LPfilter or phaser sounds pretty nice before and/or after the delay. And I've been using a volume pedal to make the crescendos a little more dramatic. Fun stuff! Long live Bucket Head.

  • awesome job man, thanks for sharing!!

  • thank you so much - brilliant lesson :)

  • you kick ass man! thanks for helping us guitarists who are Buckethead's fans.

  • 0:40

tell me plz should i pick already muted strings or i have to mute them after the picking ?

  • it's called palm muting - rest the palm of your picking hand slightly on the bridge and strings in order to not let them fully ring when picking them.

  • thanx m8

  • Different tone but not everyone can match it

    Still an AMAZING job

  • nice man, ur hella good.

  • Excellent. How is this not 5 stars?

  • it is 5 ;)

  • @dakine80 because there are no stars anymore ;P

    *scnr*

  • someone can recommend good delay effect?

  • shoot for sweep echo. best for this song

  • I meant concrete gear

  • i have big sur moon tabs on my chanell

  • it wont let me post tabs

  • I posted the link to your channel in the info box, maybe this'll get you some hits - your skills deserve it! ;)

  • thanks man

  • as it says in the video, you can practically find them anywhere on the web, [ultimate-guitardotcom for example]. i started out with tabs myself, so consider me mortal, too ;)

  • that's......... THAT'S A NICE GUITAR!! :O

  • very nice playing but not really helpful since i cant learn a thing at this speed and no tab :(

  • wow this song IS easy to play, it sounds so cool though

  • TABS....

    WANT....

    TABS....

  • you kinda need buckethead hands to play this ^^

  • what delay are you using??? can i do this on boss dd3?

  • of course you can, many users covering this song actually do it with a DD3. i don't know this box, so I don't know how handle it. For delay info see description.

  • awsome. please could u provide us a real slower full lesson :( pleas i beg u

  • ah well, you've already found it, i see. I'll see what I can do!

  • awesome playing!

  • thats fucking awesome i want to play that

  • hey, i was watching this for a bit and learned it also through a tab. Thanks so much for all the help with this song, i enjoy it a bunch more now that i can play it and i know the right settings. Only thing i dun know how you did was the chords you were playing at 0:31. Any help man? GJ btw you rockin hard

  • was my pleasure to help man.

the chords/arpeggios are a variation of sth which is mostly written as 2-string lick in the tabs, you'll find it right there. i usually do it on 3 strings, using exactly the same notes. they're inversions of the chords Bm, A, G, played on the 3 bottom strings as follows:

    -

    -

    -

    -12--11--9

    -14--12--10

    -14--12--10

    have fun.

  • I just started learning how to play guitar, and I can't play even the first second of the song. My fingers can't separate that far! Does this just come with practice, or will I physically never be able to play this song?

  • don't worry - if you just started, these kind of stretches are almost impossible (at least for ME anyway). don't hurt yourself, keep doing stretching exercises and start with an easier song... (if there is any by buckethead, that is ;)

  • Works great thanks again man. Dunno why i'm having such a hard time to pick these out as well as you did, but i am trying to hit em harder to bring out the sound.

  • tranks!!!!!!!1

  • that was awesome if you dont mind could you make a more ummm slower version or if it is easier send me tabs :] that would be great im just startin to get to the arppaegeos and all that crap it is very hard

  • thanks that was really helpful

  • that is so funking awsome

  • pretty badass man

  • Very nicely explained and played.. Very cool song.. Have a good one,

    Nigel

  • Another overwhelming job of this chicken pickin' son of a gun!! Indeed, his a weirdo too... He starts to comment his own comments... great.. This dude should go on tour with Rodrigo & Gabriela, playing just an accoustic set...!

  • thanks, rosebud me old son

  • nice man i just started learning :)) thx for the link

  • cool man.....:)

  • hey dude fucking well done man!!

  • thanks buddy!
