I find the series fascinating & if you watch enough episodes, you truly get that this is a disorder, usually brought on by some trauma or profound grief. I wonder if there is an association of being children of parents who experienced the "first" depression, since these people seem within the same age range. I know my mom & sisters all had their own caches & things saved for years due to future usefullness, something the hoarders reiterate. The difference? Their caches were neat & orderly.

@NoseyNNana i witnessed it first hand a good guy that was known by my family. HE was a lawyer but then he went to war ever since he came back he just started packing piles and piles of crap in his yard and in his house. the yard got so full the township forced him to push the junk back away from the road. He lost his drives license and was forced to hitch hike back and forth to wrk. His meals consisted mostly of garlic and road kill. Eventually after two weeks dead he was found in his house

@NoseyNNana I agree with you that OCD is an anxiety disorder. OCD runs in my Mom's side of the family. Different family members have reacted it in different ways. I had a grandmother who was immaculate. She couldn't wait until you were finished with your cup of tea before the cup was washed and put away. I have other aunts who constantly clean. My Mom has a cousin who is a hoarder and cannot get rid of things. I have a disorder called "magical thinking." It is a lot like Marc Summers

A past episode was astounding. The woman had rooms stuffed to the ceiling of purchases over the years. They took it to a vacant retail store setting to resell & the place was the size of a major retail store on one story, like Marshalls. I think the woman had used her entire retirement fund, maybe $60,000+, primarily from Ebay purchases. I like Ebay as much as the next person, but this was just astounding.
