This was done using the tool called Noggit. And yes, I can confirm you can do it on live server. But it doesn't really make any difference you make it on live or not, because, only changes you are doing is to your local MPQ file. In order to someone else see this change you have to literally give them your MPQ, which I highly doubt you'll do. With Cataclysm that's about ~20GB of files.

Also, Live servers can recognize if your MPQ files are 'corrupted' so the next patch everything would be same.

This is not sandbox, not fake, not a private server..

This is possible on a live server. Only detectable problem is the terrain, collisions broken will be readen by the warden. So it is practically stupid to use it elsewhere than private servers. Since who cares if you edit terrain on privat servers? ;)

This all works on retail, only problem is that other people will see you moving under the ground.

But this all works by patching the ADT files into a MPQ file, You can also swap enchant-designs. Gear designs. You can also redo the textures, and swap textures on houses (let's say we want a pink roof on human houses) It all requires a bit of imagination :)

And yes, you can mess around... you are editing the WoW world, but you need to do it correct to not get any errors, look up a tutorial. and there are not npcs because he is not playing WoW, he is playing Noggit..

At the moment making the video, he is not IN retail playing, but using the WoW maps and editing them. Then saves the file, puts it in the WoW folder and voala, it is changed. I myself did this, but didnt know how to save it. My friend eventually did for his own private server, but forgot to remove the file when he played retail, almost got banned...

Also, there are no NPC:s in wow map editor because its just a 3rd party software which is used to open WoW maps and modify them. No need to log on anything - just "unzip" a specific wow data file, grab the map files from it and open them in editor. No sandboxes
