Medicare was supposed to cost 10 million a year in the 60's when it was introduced, it now costs about 45,000 times that amount (480 Bil)
This bill is estimated to cost 856 Bil on the low end, 2 TRIL on the high end. We are currently in debt by around 90.4% of our GDP and scheduled to break 100% of our GDP by 2010 WITHOUT this bill.
How hard is this to understand?
By 2020, our entire federal revenue won't cover the interest only payment on our debt.

Obama has failed to show leadership by not spelling out what he thinks the bill should contain, and I doubt he will give any this weekend when he yuks-it-up with Leno on this extremely important issue. The deficit is 1.2 trillion w/o healthcare. That means the federal government spends over 4.5 trillion right now. If they pass healthcare then that's another 865 billion onto the deficit.
They gather around 3 trillion in taxes and will be spending 5.5.
That means our economy would have to nearly DOUBLE to pay for this and their previous spending.
It CANNOT happen. It is LITERALLY impossible to come back from passing this bill no matter how much a family saves on healthcare

1.theres no competition in the insurance industry because of the many govt. regulations and licensing laws already in place. they keep new companies from being able to enter the market place...this is common in many industries.
2. cost of insurance could be lowered immediately if the govt would lift all mandates(over 2,000 of them), which raise the cost of insurance by 20%-50%, depending on the carrier.

If I got cancer, my insurance would cover it. I have private health insurance and it costs money. Instead of spending my money on stupid shit like latte's and energy drinks, I spend it on smart shit like doubling down on my mortgage and health insurance. The ONLY people who don't have health insurance either can't afford it, or don't want it. Kucinch's plan is the only one thatt will work.
Make the whole population the risk pool.
Establish a Federal non-profit corporation as the insurer.
It might cost all of $200 per person a year--indeed it might even make a surplus.
All other Health Insurance becomes unnecessary as well--Veterans, Medicare, Government Employees--saving trillions in taxes right there.
It would also stimulate the economy.
No plan with the participation of for profit Health insurance will work.

I'd LOVE to have health coverage! Right now, I have none & can't afford to pay it. This is becuz I was born with a disability that greatly limits my earning potential, even daily activities. So I've been in a job for over 20 years that perfectly suits my disability, but the pay sucks.
BUT, I don't think it's worth goin against the type of govt & country our Founding Fathers set up for us. Especially when socialized medicine will probably ultimately cost us most if not all of our freedoms.
