  • Finally rock and roll. This is what has been missing. I know this is rooted in blues but it's headed to Rock and roll. Rock music has been missing it's bluesy soulful roots with a few exceptions. Gary Clark is one of them. Love it. Love it. Love it.

  • @gags1979 ...it was probably at the "Crossroads" event that Eric Clapton puts on in Chicago every year or so. It could have been anywhere, but that is a biggie...check y/t for other crossroad videos...

  • I was surfing youtube and typed in blues guitars and saw Gary Clark Jr as a featured video ...I clicked .... Wow am I glad I did !!!! I love it so much ..now this is music !!!!!

  • amzing grace how sweet the sound!! peace!

  • fuck this guy is INSANE !!!! :O I'm gonna learn all his shit, new inspiration :)

  • No doubt he’s an awesomely talented and exciting artist, but why have so many have remarked on the relationship between his skin color, and the type and content of the music he makes? Never mind the undertones of racism in those comments-- did you just start paying attention to music in this century?

  • It reminds me of Gary Clark Jr.

  • If you got the green, I'm on the scene.

  • If you're a fan of killer vocals, wicked guitar and dirty style, you gotta check the Reignwolfmusic youtube channel. AMAZING. This Gary Clark Jr stuff is cool, but...Reignwolf is wicked!

  • @rcrase aint even in the same class good try for some free pub. off gary clarks site

  • @jcpmdc, you're opinion is pointless and you obviously didn't watch the Reignwolf videos. I think Gary Clark is great. A bit tame for me, but he's got a great feel. I simply prefer more edgy, heavy blues. Just my opinion man, don't be all hurt about it.

  • reminds me of hendrix

  • Its about damn time! Thank god this man came on the scene.

  • Thankfully VH1 still plays music and gives amazing lesser-known talents like these a chance!

  • Finally a real black artist that doesn't sing about his money, cars, jewerly, or bitches. You got my respect Gary Clark Jr.

  • @MrTehproworld You obviously dont listen to alot of Black Artists then..

  • @MrTehproworld That's one of the most backhanded compliments I've ever heard.

  • @MrTehproworld BB King Didint sing as well about money ... :)

  • @MrTehproworld - I wish I could give this 100 thumbs up!! Rock on Gary.

    Rock.......... it's badly needed!!

  • Incredibly talented.

  • It reminds me of Californication!

  • 13 people lack the funky soul gene.

  • Weeping and wailing all over them strings!

  • First time i listen, Awesome

  • wow wow wow I am in love the music and the man

  • Great song. I look very forward to hear more from Mr. Gar Clark.

My only critisism is that is sound a whole lote lot the Black Keys.

But, that is a compliment because the Keys are the best thing to happen to music in 2 decades!!

  • just because the guy's black and plays guitar doesn't mean he's Hendrix. no one will ever compare. on another note, damn this guy's good.

  • Every time i hear the intro.. Damn its like i am on a blues trip. I see Robert Johnson, Muddy waters, Howlin wolf, Leadbelly, John Lee Hooker, Buddy Guy, B.B. KING, Chuck Berry, R.L. Burnside, Snooks Eaglin, Jimi Hendrix, and the 60s vietnam, Martin Luther king, And GARY MOTHERFUCKIN CLARK JR!!! This should be a 60s song!

  • second Lenny Kravitz?

  • ORION MUSIC+MORE FESTIVAL HERE I COME.

  • Hey People!

Please check out my LYRIC video of this.

    Thanx!

  • Great song!

  • Finally. Someone who plays real music.

  • This guy amazes me! I love his style and voice!

  • Now THIS is real music. Pay attention, youth of today.

  • @whosyodaddy13 im 12 (youth of today) and i agree with you, better than the stuff they sing at school

  • @4everthescriptfan I'm glad to see you have great taste!

  • @whosyodaddy13 yep. so who do you listen to besides this guy? And how old are you?

  • @4everthescriptfan Hey. I'm 32. The kids in my family listen to today's current pop: Gaga, Nicki Minaj, etc & I can't stand it, but I'm sure I listened to some weird stuff when I was their age too, haha. I listen to a variety of music: some of my current favorites are Anna Calvi, the Yeah Yeah Yeahs, Death Cab for Cutie, Coldplay, Benjamin Gibbard, Deftones, B.B. King, Jason Aldean, Chris Cornell, & most 80's music (stuff I grew up with). This list is a big range of music, it's what I'm diggin

  • @whosyodaddy13 haha. i listen to Coldplay, Adele, The Black Keys, The Script, some of the stuff my grandma makes me listen to in the car, and mostly rock, pop, and soul/blues/ r&b music. My family makes fun of me for listening to rock though.

  • @4everthescriptfan Excellent choices! Don't let anybody tell you different. All those singers & groups you mentioned are phenomenal. None of them need to be autotuned or mixed in the studio to sound good because they have actual REAL talent. I've been thinking lately about how each decade's music (as well as movies, TV, & fashion) has had its own style/feel to it....up until the 2000's. Now most everything is a sad rip-off of something from another time. True originality is rare!

  • @whosyodaddy13 thank you! gosh, if i can turn on the tv and see someone doing something diffrent, that would make my day. people need to stop following trends. i dont care if it makes you look "cool" , just be yourself.

  • @4everthescriptfan Amen to that! You are right, there is too much focus based on image rather than actual musical talent these days. I used to buy music all the time, but in the last ten years, it has been rare that I even get excited by an artist or group at all. That's when I find a gem like Gary Clark Jr here, it is a breath of fresh air. You seem to have a really good head on your shoulders and give me hope for the next generation!

  • @whosyodaddy13 yeah well i cant change peoples thought about stuff. when people see me now, they problably think imma end up in jail because of my race so....

  • @4everthescriptfan Well, there is no shortage of ignorant people in the world, this much is true. The best way to get back at foolish people like that, is to prove them wrong. The ones that hurt others do so because they hate something about themselves, so they feel the need to cut others down so they can lift themselves up. Be true to yourself. Life is too short not to. Love the people who treat you right, and forget about those that don't.

  • @whosyodaddy13 thanks. How do you know all this stuff?

  • @4everthescriptfan Wisdom...and wisdom takes time to grow! I wasted a lot of time worrying about what people think of me & dwelling on negative criticism. All that does is take away from the time you could be doing something positive. Negativity can poison you if you let it. It took time for me to figure this out, & I wish I would've known about that sooner in life. In the long run, you learn that EVERYONE has something going against them in life. Success is achieved DESPITE what holds us back.

  • @whosyodaddy13 so in less words, youre telling me to forget the negative crap people say about people and focus on positive stuff? Wow, best lesson i learned so far about life. Thanks.

  • @4everthescriptfan You got it, my friend! Let negativity fall on deaf ears, and only allow positivity to fill you up until you're overflowing. The only limitations we have in life are the ones we allow to affect us. I've always said to myself, if a blind man can climb Mount Everest, what excuse do I have to hold myself back? You sound very ahead of your time, and I wish you the best.

  • @whosyodaddy13 thank you. you too.

  • AMAZING!

  • So what! Give this great talent his spot!

  • yes fucking yes fucking yes !!!!!!!!! --- ONE GREAT ARTIST ----theres hope!!

  • A groove that should make him well known. A 10 for sure!!!!

  • Its crazy how people see a black dude playing the guitar and their minds head straight for a Hendrix comparison.

  • @ZappaSkiLL6 i know right. This is nothing like Jimi and i have heard just about every Hendrix song. But this is still a good song

  • Purely amazing song there should be more views!!!One day eveverybody going to know his name!!

  • I hate that people keep comparing Gary Clark Jr. to Hendrix. Why does it always have to be: "I like him better than..." or "I like ... better than this guy."

Gary is not trying to be "like" Hendrix, fucking understand that already!!!

He's way more talented than Hendrix. Yes, deal with it.

He's not the "next Hendrix", he's just an awesome, talented musician.

  • @rideu2b

P.S. Don't even bother replying how Hendrix was this and that, because I don't care. Gary is the present and Hendrix is the past. For those of you stuck in the past: wake up and smell the real blues. This is what it sounds like today.

  • @rideu2b

No one is more talented than Hendrix was. No one. Deal with it.

  • @opensourcecurrency

I don't need to deal with it, I don't like Hendrix!

All his stuff is boring shit.

  • Love it. But I hear more ZZTop than any other influence, which is just fine.

  • @opensourcecurrency al green anyone?

  • @GoofyGuitar68 WOW!

  • I don't know how i got here....but it's great ! :)

  • I think they sound like the Black Keys too, but God Bless both of them. This is real music sung by real soulful singers. compared to the rest of the crap the record industry shoves down our throats this is so refreshing and I hope they both do the blues some good.

  • I wish Justin Biber's video brought you all here and that this video has 12731928378113 views

  • Marihuana brought me here !!

  • Jack Daniels brought me here :D

  • MY awesome song choice sent me here. :)

  • The Bright Lights EP and a love of the blues sent me here.

  • @tnajeffhardy23 Thank you for a good pun. So much on YouTube is trashtalk. Easy to put someone down when you'll never meet them. At 59, I've listened to about l00,000 songs so I know music. To all you idiots who talk about your sex life, et al, shut up. You have nothing intelligent to say about anything as far as I'm concerned.

This kid's got it. And so do you.

  • This songs godSoul, heart, little bit of a blues influence but its rock, and there all black! AMAZING \M/

  • why are people arguing about this artist. did you hear the music. what sounds like this. because if there is please let me know of these different artists. im so sick of music these days. this is original, has soul and is actually music.

  • QUITATE QUE AHI TE VOY LENNY KRAVITZ!,xD !!

GET OUT OF MY WAY, LENNY !! X-D !

  • All of you comparing him to Dan Auerbach and The Black Keys are wrong. He's blues but that's where the comparison stops. He's much more versatile and plays more blues styles and more difficult songs than Auerbach.

  • Thank God I endured the whole pilot for House of Lies or I may have missed him..that would've been a huuuge loss on my part!!

  • AWESOME !!

  • This guy has an absolutely incredible voice.

  • this has to be the start of another blues revolution . it sounds amazing way to go clark!

  • @SarathiMarica yeah he sure is !

  • The black (or African American for the easily offended) Dan Auerbach!

  • WOW! THANK YOU for playing with love

  • can you say blues is back?

  • fucking awesome!!

  • awwww-some!!!

  • I love how he is a black guy but not going along with the stereo-typical rapping stuff. I do believe the 90's are coming back =]]

  • @xsuicidalxskittlesx How is he supposed to go with that if he can't rap..not every black guy is a natural born g-star. And why would he when he has a voice like that :P However, let's hope you're right about the 90's coming back, I wouldn't mind that at all;]]

  • Oh. My. God. This guy is good.

  • FIRE!!!!!!

  • everything is perfect in this song... from the guitar to the singers voice to the lyrics, so in love with all the combined flavors

  • am i the only one who thinks he looks like will smith? Oo

  • House of lies

  • I saw GC Jr. play live last summer, this was one of my favorite songs he did. I sat on the ground, with a hundred or two other people, packed in to a small area to hear him play. Sure, The Smithereens played after him, but whatever. A lot of people were there for him. And to quote him, I certainly left there knowing him.

  • Reincarnation of the Hendrix

  • This is my theme song!!! Good to hear good music now a day!!
