the real city of Detroit today looks like a Post apocalyptic City looks way worst then what it was portrayed as in Robocop. it's all a gHOST TOWN NOW OF ABANDONED houses and Blight .
one of the explosions in the last location ended up being much bigger than the technical staff expected, and one of the actors received minor burn injuries to his face, I believe it was the actor for Emil, after he received his compensation pay he said that he looked for ways to get closer to explosions so he could get more money, and because it was awesome, it's in the Robocop archive video for Robocop villains
Great work guys! What about his old house, where he starts having flashbacks of his previous life? Man that place was ultra 1980s. Angular, formica furniture and tiled fireplaces.
Continuing on from my ramblings on the first page:
Track 12- We Killed You or Track 6- Ed-209 vs. Robocop (during OCP exterior visit can be used)
Track 8 Across the Board (during Courthouse visit) Maybe even use the scenes of Robocop pulling up, telling Hedgecock to keep him talking, and Robo punching the guy out the window.
There's no songs played for the "External Explosions" scene, but using cutscenes of Clarence blowing up the 6000 SUX, Emil blowing up the tv joint would be good.
Where did they shoot the "intererior shots" of OCP Boardroom, Dick Jones' office, Police Station front desk area, the club where Leon Nash gets arrested, the garage where Robo gets shot by police but is saved by Lewis,
they are talking all serious with this brother, telling him to rent robocop on dvd...fuck,... for all we know, he was probably an extra IN Robocop when it was filmed in '86. he's just bullshitting frank and his pal acting like he doesnt know anything about the movie.
@mireaux7 I will work on making a Google map with the locations pinned. The link will be placed in the description section, and I will add a reference to it in an annotation on the videos. It might take me a few days, but check back : )
Very Nice video guys but you guys forgot one place that Old Factory where Peter was kill e turn to Robocop after and the ending part of the movie he's return that place to hiden and repared himself with his partner, but my question is:
Yea very humorous, informative, and funny. I hope you guys got a new 'hangout area.' Next time I'm by the NY Public Library i'll shoot it for ya with the digi.
That was amazing, u guys have just earned yourselves a subscription.....Are u looking forward to the new robocop in 2010 i heard it was a remake, it will never compare to the original masterpiece but hey it might be good Thanks for sharing
Downtown Dallas is definitely dead and has been for years. They've tried to revitalize it, but it just can't compete with other areas of the city in terms of entertainment/bars/restaurants/etc.
Very interesting indeed guys. Thanks for this :) Never knew that the film was filmed in Dallas. One of my favourite movies of all times with The Terminator :)
The street where all the buildings were blown up: I thought that was all on a movie set lot. Unbelievable they actually filmed that scene in a part of a real city.
I'm surprised they shot that scene and the gas station explosion on real streets in completely functional areas of the city. I wish I'd known when it was happening at the time and I would have asked my parents if they could take me there.
Great stuff guys. I'm a big fan of film location videos. I was always under the assumption that this movie was filmed in Detroit, but never bothered to actually research it.
Until a few years ago, I had always been under the impression that the external shot of OCP had been filmed at the Grand One Center in Sherman, Texas- which looks almost identical (with minor differences). It is my guess that whoever designed the Dallas City Hall also designed the Grand One Center as well.
Interesting. I just looked up the Grand One Center on Google Street View. Looks similar, but it does seem quite a bit smaller. Regardless, most of the frame was a matte painting : ) Thanks for watching!
Another major difference I did notice when I learned of the Dallas location, the GOC is bent in the middle of building vertically. The DCH is straight all the way across without a bend in the center.
I knew about the matte painting, similar to the one that they used for the location used for Cyberdyne in Terminator 2. The matte, in this case, turned a three story building into a six story building.
i was always a big time fan of robocop when i was a kid
but you guys missed the most IMPORTANT scene location
the steel mill.
as mentioned it was always beleived to be filmed in ZUG ISLAND and cameras are not prohbited. some pics from outside ZUG island look just like the movie
but recently people have said it was filmed in either DALLAS or Detroit steel mill
