actuley do research and you will find that you can use drivers for other nic cards that will work if you force them or you can install the xpdriver for them.
I have 7 on a laptop with a single core 2.13GHz Celeron processor, a built in graphics card that is just able to play Half Life 2, but Aero works, and it works great, 2GB of DDR2, I put windows 7 64-bit on it, I was surprized that old processor worked with a 64-bit OS.
Yeah, an Athlon XP 2400 is a bit old, but it isn't that legacy, my main computer is an Althon XP 2800, and using it to write this now. I'd say legacy is anything from pentium 2 and below.
dude this isn't old hardware or legacy. what? this is still an acceptable machine for most people. that said, windows 7 will run decently on TRUE older hardware like pentium 2's... it will run on pentium 1's if the BIOS has ACPI 2.0 support but it runs like shit on those. P2's it is acceptable on generally. depends what you're doing with it.
I built this machine back in 2003. So I would consider this legacy and old hardware; computers get outdated fast. Most machines on the market today for consumers are mostly dual core... This is a single core processor, making it pretty much obsolete.

Althon is pretty old processor, especially he is using Althon XP, which is like 5-6 years ago. It is pretty old machines. Well, Windows 7 is base on Windows Vista, just like XP is base on Windows 2000. Windows 7 has great improvement is system proformance wise. Also, Windows 7 has great compatibility. Dude, you should use it before you make any comments. I love Windows 7!

ur kidding i got windows vista on a pentium 3 with 512mb ram and 32mb ram bit when i tried to turn on aero it bsod'd and it wouldnt come out of it

I think the video would run great but the CPU may be a little sluggish at times. You could try it, and I would, but I think XP would run fastest.
