  • would it work just as well if you didnt have the metal frame holding them together? Like if you taped them together or something. Would that cut down on the resonance? Cause I dont know how to make the metal frame

  • It sounds great.

  • FAIL

  • you just made that up there and then didn't you..?

  • noob

  • nice touch with the tie-dye shirt

  • blow into it

  • how did you make the ends of the tubes

  • blue man group

  • how do you know what length of tube to use?

  • your good i really would like to video chat

  • ahahah a lost blue man group

  • that's COOL!

  • sounds awesome like super dodge ball kenya level for nintendo

  • lol are those devil sticks?

  • A tip, rig those to mics (preferably one mic in each tube) and then DIST THEM. FUCK. YEAH.

  • check out Harry Partch

  • those tubes have endless possibilities!

  • very cool!

this summer I hope to make some sort of pvc instrument.

  • hahaha thats pretty awesome

  • stoner fail

  • ahahha totally... so fuckin funny

  • Even though it's not a full octave, you still put what you had to good use! I'm really impressed with this, but might I suggest trying the same concept with metal instead?

  • Metalpipes sounds so good <3

  • Pretty cool man.

  • i want that thingy.

  • Check RHYTHMTANDEM for another rare instrument.

  • copy and paste if gears of war 2 brought you here

  • Ever seen the Blue Man Group? You'd like them a lot, they use the same thing like you are, but more expansive.

  • Read the description...

  • Ah, My bad lol. Forgot to read it this time. Cool vid though.

  • its cool, just get annoyed sometimes

  • hey at least he tried. Takes practice. its hard to do it.

  • larry write is awesome!

  • ^^ flipflop

  • Ringo would kick your ass.

  • your a total chode

  • Awesome dude. Your playing is sloppy is all.

  • theyre wayy to hight pitch, and youre hitting the plastic. Use a little thicker rubber or w/e is on that and make it an octive lower. (excuse the bad spelling)

  • wow garbage! but hey you tried!

  • I actually thought it was pretty cool

I kind of want to make one now

in fact... I really wanna make one

  • and wheres your vids of you playing a musical instrument that you created yourself?

  • I like the frame to hold the pipes. U have now to choose notes and tune the tubes accordingly. Open tubes= length is 1/2 of the wavelength

close them at the end and it's now 1/4, so shorter. U'll get proper resonance. then use a better membrane (of your choice). Voila... a super cool instrument.

Wavelength is 345/frequency of note. well just FGI. Needs work but You're on the right path.

  • ahhh, my brain!

  • @bheumez Hey DUDE! i am trying to make an instrument like this. I am not getting all the physics talk. Could you clarify please?

What's better: leaving the tubes open or closed to get more resonance?

thanks in advance :-D sorry for my english.

  • "big bravo"^^ HAHA!

  • "much more beter"

  • C'est génial!

  • maybe with some good sounding wood would be much more better..

    big bravo for the idea!!!

    :)

  • Don't ever say "big bravo"

  • hahahaha

  • Why???

  • Because he sounds like a rump ranger

  • hahaha fuckin big bravo

  • big bravo on his gay ass comment

  • blue man group does something similar to that.

    its pretty neat.

  • awesome!

  • Instead of plastic for the part you hit, try using something softer like rubber. Take a old bike tire and split it down the middle. Cut out a small bit and stretch it over the tube and then tape/rivet it into place.

The way you have it now sounds good, though. It sounds more like small tom-toms tuned to a specific note.

  • try some soft mallets and what are those colored caps on the end of the pipes?

  • the colored ends are tape, holding a plasitc mouth to the end of the tube. Softer, air-tight mallets would work if the pipes were open (as the blueman use) but it is VERY tricky to strike the drum to get a good sound... So I did it my way. :)

  • thats great! if you wanted to experiment with sound you might try some softer (might have to homemade) mallets. 5/5

  • really cool dude

  • Your audience includes a bag of cat food?

  • me encanta, suena muy bien, jeje!

  • I thought you were going to blow on the tubes, but you hit them and played them...

  • Naaaaaaaaaaaice

  • como le hiciste esas boquillas a los tubos?

  • VERY AWSOME DUDE

  • what did u use to cover the end that your hitting

  • tis a dragon secret... lol. naw, I got some thin wall 3" pvc, cut it into small rectangles, put batches of it in the oven on 150 for 10 minuts to get it all soft, took them out, sandwiched them between tile, and let them cool while flat. I cut them out to fit the mouth of the tubes, and taped them on. no glue. when struck, they viberate the air inside the tube, which gives the drum its 'pitch'. :)

  • real cool! if u want to make summin similar i recoment u visit wx3(dot)bmgconstruction101 (dot) c0m

  • Wow lol at first I thought it'd be big, lol. cool though.

  • The tubes are only 2.5". the longest tube is 39" and the shortest one is 18". the metal skeleton is from 3" fence post and 1/4" metal rod. Besides the welds, everything is held together by colored electrical tape. :)

  • Pretty cool :D

  • great, but i've seen it before.

  • Pretty cool!

  • interesting !

  • Pretty cool, dude!

  • Got any more videos of you playing this?

  • not yet. The songs I can play that use all the tubes are limiting. I'll figure some more out and post them all in a single vid if you all would like. thanks for the comments!

  • I AM 5TH

  • Nice

  • VERY GOOD!

  • perty cool

  • not bad, good job on that one
