REALLY? Let's ask some doctors about that. Ask them how "good for you" greasy fried food is. Ask the people who have lost family members in their 30s, 40s, or 50s because of obesity and heart disease.
God has given us commandments and I intend to follow them to the best of my ability. Of course it is only through the grace of Christ that we can be justified.
your body is a temple of God. the whole food thing is in equal balance with the "your body is a temple."
hmm, don't have tea? did God really make that a commandment or a rule? seriously, i think we've all had a big mac once in our lives. besides, those drs are probably munching on 1 in lunch.
the 2 most important commandments are to serve your Lord God with all your heart, soul, mind and strength and 2nd, to love your neighbors as yourself.
you're placing all these rules and ceremonies set by your church like you're worshiping an idol.
the pharisees and teachers of the law worshiped in the temples and although they were seen as men of God, preaching with their mouth, their hearts were far from God.
rules and such non-sense are meaningless. religion's meaningless. everything falls into place under Jesus Christ. we're in Him and He's in us. we're free in Him, so why all the rules?

Just because you don't seem to like the commandments does not mean they are not inspired of God.
10 commandmnents i believe in. commandments made by men and the church like "thou shall not consume tea and starbucks" i find no meaning in it. it's not inspired by God, but by the "wisdom" of men.
men who go by their wisdom are foolishness in God's sight.
i respect that these things helps you to feel closer to God, although i find no understand in tea/coffee, but why are you oversensitive about such things? you can't live the life God has set for you if you're always oversensitive.
correct me if i'm wrong, but a few days ago the topic of Mormon was featured in The Way of the Master. i don't remember word-for-word, but it mentioned that Mormons believed or were taught that grace is achieved after Christ.
is this true? that's why you're doing a lot of good deeds and works b/c you want to be granted eternal life from God?
It is only through the grace of Christ that we are saved. However, again, we do believe that He has given us commandments. For example, Jesus taught us in John 3:5 that, "Except a man be born of water and of the Spirit, he cannot enter into the kingdom of God."
There is a commandment to get baptized from Jesus, so we believe in baptism.
However, our good works certainly cannot save us. It is only through His sacrifice that we can be justified.
No, we do good deeds because we want to serve! We don't expect anything from anyone... And we believe God and Jesus Christ are delighted when we strive to be good and follow the commandments...
We believe we're blessed spiritually, mentally and physically when we're good to others...
If these "missionaries" are trained before they hit the road, so to speak, then why are they all a bunch of whiny, timid little fruitcakes who stumble over even the smallest words?
What I don't understand is Why it's Jesus Christ enough? Why it's Grace enough? Why do LDS make salvation seems so hard to receive? Why do the move backwards instead of forwards? If some could please give a a good reason that would be awesome. Thanks for your time! :)
Eternal Life is the greatest gift we can receive, why should we not work hard to receive it? I don't think LDS make it seem that hard to receive salvation but they do believe that it is something to work toward and not just receive because one time you said that you accept Jesus as your savior but not act accordingly.
Yeah I'd be happy to explain. The reason it's so hard is because Salvation is not a cheap experience. It was never easy for our Savior, so why would it be easy for us? I guess we're not the kind of church that runs to the front of an auditorium, throw up our hands and shout "we're saved!" It's not that easy, at least it wasn't that easy for Him in the garden of Gethsemane, or on the cross at calvary. We are entitled to earn our salvation through Christ and come to know him through trial/faith.
salvation's not hard to achieve. Jesus took all our sins and died. He did the hard part and it was for that very reason He came and died for us. b/c of this, Jesus made it easy for us to earn eternal life if we repent and accept Him. why would it be hard for people to get eternal life? do you really think God would make it hard for those who want the Bread of Life?
He has given us commandments that He expects us to follow. Then, because we all will fall short, it is only through His grace that we can be justified and gain eternal life.
To me, in order to understand this, you have to understand the purpose of why God sent us here to Earth. God sent us here to help us grow and develop the attributes that He has. If we do so, we will be happy. That is what God wants.
If salvation didn't require effort, we would never grow, and thus would not fulfill God's purpose for putting us here in the first place. We won't be perfect in this life, though, so Christ atoned for our sins so we will be saved even though we aren't perfect. :)
I am so grateful for the missionaries who changed my life 27 years ago.
I had the privilege of serving in Manchester and served with a spaniard, a mexican, loads of canadians and scandinavians, a black elder a navajo indian.... the gospel is truly worldwide.. and doesnt take from any truth that anyone has in their lives.. it just adds to it
This video features a LOT of white people... It is really too bad that God only chose to share his eternal wisdom with white residents of Utah, and made his "truth" so crazy that nobody else will believe it. I guess he works in mysterious ways!
The church has been established in all areas of the world, in many languages. Some of the most faithful areas are in places like philippines and south america. Jeremiah 16:16. These boys and girls and fishers and hunters. Spreading the gospel.
You're right! And it was made at the missionary training center in Utah. There are several others in different places in the world. If the video had been made at the MTC in Brazil, you could say, "This video features a LOT of Brazilian/Portuguese/brown people." And the Gospel is true, no matter where we live or what color our skin is. I am so glad that we can all learn the truth of the Gospel.
rudy806, where in the bible does Christ say to share the good news of the "Bible" alone? Matt 28:19,20 says to "teach whatsoever I have commanded you." We have commandments from Christ in the Book of Mormon too. And how would his early disciples have known anything about the B.O.M. if it wasn't even compiled by the prophets until after Christ's ascension? Think about it. By the way, why don't you try actually reading the B.O.M. before condemning the book we hold to be true?
The point of the Book of Mormon is to further testify of Jesus Christ. Are you opposed to God giving more of His word?
When you look at the Bible, it is the foundation for thousands of Christian denominations. Even with the Bible, there is still great confusion within Christianity about its interpretation. With the Book of Mormon as well, that confusion is dissipated.
@rudy806 the book of mormon is more good news, backing up the bible and testifying that jesus is the christ, same doctorine but different land being preached to,before you accuse the book of such, try reading it.
I love this video, too. Still I must say that we must now include in the Universal Declaration of Human Rights, one more right, besides that of freedom of religion, namely, that of Freedom FROM religion, and propaganda. If a gp. of five people join and spurn missionary propaganda, this right must enable it.
I loved this video! It is a great overview of who those missionaries are, and what they are doing.(and a big WOW dmg818!) I would have liked to see more Sister missionaries highlighted. I served for 18 months in Wisconsin and Illinois many years ago. It was an incredible experience.

These kids are really good kids. They were housed in the building next to mine for quite some time, and worked really hard.

Thanks for uploading this... I'm always looking for more good videos.

Wow, that must have taken quite a while...good work though; good video too; I'm going to be serving in the Brazil Maceio mission in about a week

Some updated stats:
Approximately 52,000 members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints are currently serving as full-time missionaries. They are called to serve in one of 334 missions in approximately 120 different countries around the world.

You're right about it being "slightly outdated." Maybe late 80s? Anyway, still a good description of the missionaries.
