I definitely miss Mick, but I also miss Weller playing real guitars. Does he really think those thin-lines do more for his sound than the Fender's? I still love everything he does, but his guitar sound now is the worst of his career.
Why would you make this comment to me? Did you even read my comment? What does 17 years ago have to do with anything? Obviously, I HAVE followed his career - how else would I know what kind of equipment he uses? Don't be an acolyte. Weller is one of my favorites, but that doesn't mean I will prejudicially NOT criticize him. His guitar sound is simply not as good as it used to be. Deal with it.
Definitely a failed relationship. It doesn't get clearer than "Don't matter what I do, I'm still in love with you." Very poignant and it captures the feeling all too well....
i saw style council in thier first nyc gig at the bottom line. uncle paul is still the bomb! i also saw him with the jam once. he's so cool. these kids have no music now. how sad.
This has soul and power. There is just too much mindless rocking out these days.

This was 17 years ago, you complete fool. You simply have not followed his career at all and don't know about his guitar playing or style today.

is its any consolation mate I agree with you. I wouldnt say I dislike his guitar tone now but its not the best he has used.

I agree too tbh.
His live show now compared to this is quite weak.

Who said Weller had no sense of humour?

It's impossible to improve on the studio version (which, in my humble opinion, is one of the best songs ever written).
However, this is a good live effort.
Does anyone else miss Mick Talbot like I do ?
