i noticed you took him out of the water.. even you know this is very bad practice! also you need to lt him join the tank at his own pace ie use the bag or another bag you have and let him slipp out when hes ready.. this is for everyday keeping and try to turn off you lights bud, aprt from that nice one!
@dsedean I disagree with you, it is much more harmful to everyone if someone else’s water goes into my tank and crashes my whole tank, it’s much better to risk one than all.
@tkdhav yea but on a different note how big Is you tank? I just added a mandarin to my to my biocube 29 that has a 10 gallon refugium, but I might start up a pod culture to keep him well fed...but mine will eat frozen music shrimp. Do you think I should start up a pod culture?
@Fishkeeper96 My Tank is 110 Gallons with an additional 25 gallons in the filtration between the Sump and Refugium. just last month I added pods to the Refugium so they will grow and multiply in there and as that way they will give a constant feeding chain to the tank, I think its good for anyone to do it that way. I use to add to tank then they would just get caught in filter sock and tossed, this way they go from Refugium then to tank, have not seen any sock now.
@tkdhav because you said yours killed your mandarin and I put one in my tank once and within two days it killed my cleaner shrimp...in my opinion a $10 anemone is not worth the risk of killing something else that is 30 or more. A bubble tip or long tentacle anemone would look amazing in your tank!
@Fishkeeper96 oh yeah I forgot about that, well its ture that he did but that Mandarin was week and I believe thats how he landed in there or was unable to swim away.
@kevinduong4 the male has a much longer dorsal fin, the front spike on the fin is hard and will exstend all the way back to its rear dorsal fin. The male sometimes will have his damaged and have seen it shorter, maybe by males fighting, not sure but the females also seems a bit more soft. I have a picture on my Saltwater Daydreams facebook site shows a female I added to the tank going after male, there you can see this easy.
I want to get one of these guys in the next few weeks. I was drawn to there beauty. Also thank you for subscribing. I could use a experience reefer watching over me in case I need help.
@FishNbricks20 Well thank you for tunning in, well I have learned alot in the last few years I have along way to go, but this is a great way for all of us to talk and get ideas. Let me know if there is anything I can help with. :~)>
@FishNbricks20 BTW if you want to get one of these fish get prior to him atleast 3-4 weeks before him get some copepods and put them in the tank, wait till your lights have been off for a few hours and all the fish are tucked away tuen off your pumps and any pumps in your system for about an hour or two and release them into tank, this will alow them time to find small holes and little cracks so they dont get filtered out. good luck and God speed! :~)
I am very glad that you are doing updates again. I think that I need to send you an Acclimate tank. lol. Nice catch on the bag. The Mandarin looks amazing!
What are you using for sand size and how deep? I hated my sugar fine sand cuz the Blenny would stir it up all the time. Your system looks amazing! Great Video!
@adjusterfrank My Sand Bed is 1.5 - 2" Deep, as far as the size, It escapes me right now, I know i have two different sizes in my tank, the first one I stared out with was a crushed coral and it was larger, nothing that blew around, however this last one was much finer more of a Keywest sand and the real bad thing about it is scraches the heck out of my glass and cant see it on the mag. Thanks for tunning in. ;~)
maaybe u meant a "happpily" married couple.....great video, i gottta ask you how u keeep ur glass so clean its a real pain to keeep the sides and the back clean on my tank, ur glass seemed spotless....hey those mandarins are my favorite they r just so hard to get to eat regular frozen foood....goood luck hopefully they can eventuallly spawn!
@vipete1985 well I clean my tank every week spend about 4 hours on the weekend and much of that is on the glass, my glass is very difficult to keep clean, unfortunately I have a few scratches in the glass that make it even harder to keep clean. I normally take one of those plastic scrapers that come on the stick and just hold it in my hand and scrap the glass with it, few areas I can’t reach that I have to use the stick however it is so hard to apply pressure using that stick.
