I missed the last question originally, if that is what you mean. Sorry about that. If you think of audio comments, there's an idea for another time. :-)
I've got an XB700Li electric moped which ran me about $1750 including shipping. What would the cost of a midrange City-El be, assuming I were to import it to the US?
In this video the top speed is 57 km/t. New vehicles are available at 53, 57 and 63 km/h - and theoretically 70 km/h is possible too although that might be a little too near to the limits of the vehicle design to be a good idea.
In Germany there is a specially "downgraded" version that only goes 45 km/h but can be driven with a special driver's license class for younger people (16 years old). That licens class isn't available in Denmark, and I don't know about other countries.
That depends on a lot of factors - different motors and batteries, tire pressure, wind, terrain and so on.
The official range is 40-80 km in this model. I have reached 68 km by driving really "range-conscious" (slow acceleration etc.) - but then I weigh about the max weight allowed.
There are Lithium-polymer batteries that extend the range to 100-120 km and even up to 150 km if you are willing to trade some battery life for the extra range. I expect to get them in a month or so. :-)
It does, but it's part of the fun I think - call it "racing feel". :-)
You might not want to use it on a road with lots of holes all the time; it is designed to be a city vehicle after all. The factory has introduced new "high comfort suspension" units that I plan to install soon, and you can use the tire pressure to adjust between long range and comfortable suspension to a certain degree.
Nice. If in big cities 50% of people had small ellectric vehicles for 2 people, the traffic and polution would be incredible reduced. They should start mass production of such kind of vehicles.
Couldn't agree more. Thankfully there seems to be a lot of factories that are starting up production of two-seaters too nowadays. The CityEL is for one person but it's still ideal as a second car to be used for home-to-work and all the city trips where there's only one person in the car anyway.
You might be able to find a used vehicle on ebay, but be sure to learn the difference between different generations of motors (the current FactFour was introduced in 2003 but sold alongside an older model) and note that the Danish models from 1987-1992 might require some DIY skills.
New vehicles are only sold in Europe as far as I know. I have been trying to post a normal link to the producer for the last several months, but each time it seems to get eaten by the system. Try googling for "citycom ag" to find them. ;-)
It's a 48v FactFour from august 2007. It goes 57 km/h on a straight road, but around 65 on a slight down slope (and 50 up the last hill). I tried to film the speed indicator a few times, but the light was too bright so I edited most of it out again.
Sorry about the sharp sunlight and the loose stuff rattling around -- I didn't notice it until I played the video back. I'll try again at some other time. :-)
This could pass for Lancaster County, PA. Very beautiful. :-)

The vehicle used in this video cost around USD 17,750 here in Denmark at the time, including lead acid batteries and 25% sales tax.
I'm not able to say what kind of import taxes would apply and if you would be allowed to drive it on public roads right away.
Perhaps someone else has experience in this area?

I read this CityEL has a top speed of 45 km/h but here it is obviously more than that. So what's the top speed?

Thank you for the detailed response. Pretty nice vehicle, I enjoyed watching some videos about it. IMO electric vehicles are the future - hopefully.

hvor gammel skal man være for at køre en ? tæller det som knallert eller bil ? :D
skarsteen 3 years ago
Den er registreret som motorcykel, og kræver bil- eller MC-kort i Danmark - så 18 år er grænsen.
ZeAllan 3 years ago
damn :b så tror man lige man har fundet det tætteste man kommer på en bil som ung, og så skal man være 18 og med Motorcykel kørekort :/
