I love it when Christians think the story of the garden, a man, a woman, a fruit and a snake belongs to them. The truth about a lot of the Old Test is that the Hebrews, traditionally nomadic people who travelled a lot (and spent a LOT of time in Egypt) really didn't have a lot of their own myths and traditions. When they settled down, they needed these. The majority of their myths have been shown to be retellings of other cultures traditions.

Got news for you. Jesus never taught anything akin to the human wishful doctrine of "saving grace." He taught and exuded divine Love into the consciousness of his followers, he lived love, demonstrated his dominion over matter with love, taught the perfectibility of man as the image and likeness of the one who he called "Alaha" in his native Aramaic tongue. Churchianity is way off.

I get really tired of members of the christian church putting down others with different views. It is not my job as a christian to post angry comments on youtube degrading other people. I am supposed to spread the gospel, share love, and live uprightly. In the end, every individual has the right to choose their own beliefs, and each person will accept the consequences of their choices. I doubt that harsh words and threats will add anyone to the kingdom.

What is the gospel according to michaelalanay? The only true Gospel (Good News) I am familiar with is that Jesus Christ is THE WAY, THE TRUTH, and THE LIFE. No man come unto the father except through HIM. The Good News is repentance and faith in Jesus and him alone for salvation. There is too much goble-de-goop teaching in this world that does not lead to salvation. The implications of false teachers spreading lies leads to destruction.

I went to a Catholic school system. I didn't accept anything presented to me as a fact, if I found no reason to believe it so. But at least they didn't have the audacity to teach the story of Adam and Eve as a literal fact. I was surprised when I realized that "Creationism" is being discussed in USA.

UU's lack wisdom because you lack fear of God, UU's will never inherit the kingdom of God if you can't even fear The Almighty while you sit in your own little throne of self worship. UU's are just former Christians who couldn't handle the burden of carrying the cross

Fear is a very damaging thought. I am really saddened by the idea that fear is at the heart of so much religion. Fear, obedience, faith all these things are bad. The good stuff is hope, respect, openness, seeking truth and understanding from everything not just from one old book written by ignorant uneducated and superstitious xenophobic foreigners in an uncivilized age.

There is unhealthy fear and healthy fear, take for instance your driving and speeding and see a cop, most likely you will slow down. Why? You don't want a ticket or even a warning right? Your fear of something happening to you causes you to slow down. Whether you agree with the speed limit or not it is still there and you are supposed to follow it ,though many do not. I would say that this is a healthy fear as it is for your own safety.

This irreverent rendition of the fall of man is shameful and sickening. God have mercy on the Unitarian Universalist church. They need every drop. I have a friend in this church and her views are totally ungodly and unrighteous. I pray for her every week to see the truth of Jesus Christ.

The STORY of Adam and Eve is just that, a story. Like billboards&commercials today. Back then the only way to spread the word was through literature, plays & word of mouth. This story was a way to "put women in their place". To ultimately blame females for the burdens of life. Forever making her indebt to man. Also many of the "images" in this story are ancient symbols of the Goddess, symbols that powerful religous men wanted people to 4get. Thus making them synominus w/the fall of humanity

Pretty warped view of Gods word. I agree, there is no reverence for God here, and what he explicitly meant in the Adam and Eve account. Accountability and humility before the Living God are the true lessons. God gave Adam and Eve the chance to repent, and they played the blame game instead, they didn't celebrate their disobedience like this false religion wants you to believe. In the end, this is false doctrine that leads directly to hell because it rejects the saving grace of Jesus Christ.

Saying that any doctrine is false and leads to hell is extremely presumtuous in that you are chastising another's beliefs while conveniently dispensing your own beliefs as God's word. There are lots of people in this world with convictions about their religion that are just as strong as yours. What makes you right and everybody else wrong?

The irrevereness is the seriousness of the issue.

Adam and Eve sinned by disobeying God, by eating from the Tree of the knowledge of good and evil. That's how sin entered the world and caused all you see in human history.

However, as one man sinned entered into the world, one man's saving grace will overcome the sin, and pay the sin debt to God for all of human history.

His name is Jesus Christ. I'm a born again Christian because Jesus blood has paid my sin debt to God for all eternity.
