Adolf Hitler learned the USA's nazi salute from Harvard grad Ernst Hanfstaengl and Harvard football which acquired it from the USA's Pledge of Allegiance (1892). The Nazi salute resulted from the early pledge's initial military salute extended outward to point at the flag (See the work of the historian Dr. Rex Curry).
