@pogsquatch ... deep inside you know you are SOOOOOO RIGHT!!!! The day it happens, people in California should do a remake impersonation of The Day the Earth Stood Still . All rise for Ronald and Russell Maël !!! Greetings from sunny Portugal ( going through a dark grey cloud - Lights out Ibiza!)
Ladies and gentlemen - I love "les freres" to death....however, for those of you who are English and of a certain age, all I'll say is (and sing along now!!):
@Mesarphelous Please sir, take no offence! As I've mentioned elsewhere, I've just rediscovered Sparks, have bought several CDs, and am staggered by the revelation of their brilliance. What I referred to (in the comment I made) was that, having qualified for the 1970 soccer World Cup finals, the England team made a 45 called "Back home", which bears a startling resemblance to this tune.......but I love this song, and thanks for posting it!
@harrymapex - you're so right ! I too love Sparks and have always loved this song particularly - but now you come to mention it, it does remind me of that 70's football song !
@JohnnyLovely2 It satirizes rap and borrows from it without just being a stale rap-spoof. In other words, it IS a rap song in many ways, and in a much smarter, funnier way than doing just another soundalike satire.
Lil Beethoven is a fantastic album which I had doubts they could top. Now, with the release of The Seduction of Ingmar Bergman, they have proven they can. I think the new one might just be their best yet.
@forloveoffilm From what I've heard the new album is a very MPD (multi personality disorder) affair which features songs from virtually every genre they've explored over their career. I like the "Welcome Mr. Bergman" song as it's got a very classic rock feel to it, reminiscent of their early 70's sound.
@rubinoos1 A lot of stuff that nobody else listens to, or used to. They like bands like The Yardbirds, The Beatles, The Sex Pistols, and artists like Peggy Lee, Morrissey, Graeme Revell and a lot of long deceased classical and Romantic music composers.

We are suburban homeboys
With our suburban ho's right by our sides
We are suburban homeboys and we say yo dog and we mean it, by God
We've got an old school mentality
Oxford and Cambridge mentality
Props to our peeps and please keep your receipts
And we are suburban homeboys
[repeat 3x]

@JohnnyLovely2 Absolutely not. The world is plagued with thousands of rap parodies already. It is utterly flawless as it is.
Mesarphelous 1 year ago 29
@Mesarphelous my dad made a rap version of it.. with their consent! They are super nice guys. check it!

@JohnnyLovely2 That it's not a rap song and sounds more like a show tune makes the song even funnier,IMO.

haha, this reminds me so much of Monty Python's "Lumber Jack".
Fantastic ironic tune.

@ladyislingering but you have to remember that Sparks LIKE rap music. That news upset Morrissey quite a bit.
