  • Thank you for taking the time to answer my questions! I enjoy your videos and love your artwork. I liked the shot on your blog of the frames drying after you glued them together for your show.

Thanks again for sharing your knoledge

I am confused. Are you applying acrylic varnish to the initial mdf before you begin to paint in part one'? or are you saying you are using the layer of acrylic varnish at the start of 'part two' (as you begin work on the small bowl, after painting the reflective tea pot)?

    Thanks

  • @keikojay hi, I only use the acrylic varnish to seize the panel ie as kind of ground to paint on. Now I use a different seize, its called 'capaplex' from the brand caparol.....

  • @josvanr

Thank you for replying so quickly.

I also wanted to ask you what you are applying to the surface in part II before you apply the paint. It appears you apply something clear just before you begin work on the small white bowl.

    Again thanks for the reply.

  • @keikojay hello, Before I start to paint again (when the painting is dry) I add some medium to the surface. Drying time of the medium I use is between 1 day and 7 days (or so)... For the '1 day' I use equal parts linseed oil and liquin, or a similar medium....

  • @josvanr Do you reapply medium in different proportions if you continue to paint in day 2 or 6?

Do you use the medium mixture when the surface is virgin except for the 'capaplex'?

    Thanks for the reply

  • @keikojay good q's: I dont change the ration for the next layers, ie I dont care about 'fat over lean' . Yes I also apply the medium over the fresh panel (on top of the capaplex).....

  • MAN YOU ARE A BRILLANT PAINTER,I LOVE LOVE LOVE YOUR WORK BUT WHY NOT A BIT SLOW AND WITH SOME EXPLANATIONS

  • thanks for telling me this information i can see or pick the natural colour actually i work with the basic colors and mix the other and make more shades of the colours

i m asking you just for this if you can tell me the complete colour as you can make the many shades of green but the other green mixed or also available in market.....

therefore i asked you thanks for reply

  • nice cup and tea pot

josvanr you use the varnish before painting

or tell me the colors you use in this cup i think grey or off white or burnt umber if you use other colors tell me please i m little bit confused about colors i can make the accurate shape but colors disturbe me thanks for sharing n also waiting for reply

  • hi, yes I thought you are confused about colors. I think you need to get a good book about color mixing. There are some nice books by Helen van Wyk about this subject. You need to understand how the color circle and color mixing works. Its not so much about which specific pigments to use, more about seeing color and color relationships, so you can adapt them to match what you see. In the cup I think I used titanium white, transparent oxide red and ultramarine blue, maybe some yellow...

  • @josvanr i will try to find out the book

i request you can you make the mirror effect on canvass or board

if you can share with us n please mention the colours with your video its easy to understand and also the effects of the colours thanks waiting for reply

  • @mudassatgold hi mudassat, hmm also for mirrors there is no fixed mixture of colors or recipe for colors. It all depends on the light in your subject and what is reflected in the mirror. Painting a mirror is no different from painting anything else. But you have to see to it that you accurately record in paint what you see in your subject. I can strongly advise you to look up how a 'full spectrum' palette and color mixing work, and you can paint anyting you want!

  • @josvanr
