@scrokostas the car is driven totally differently with and without socks to make them look better, if you watch closely without socks the driver lifts off the throttle the car slows a bit then slams it back down, the wheels spin (duh), with the socks on there is no slowing down then slamming the throttle on, the car would probably have looked as good through that corner without the socks if it had been driven the same with and without,
not saying they don't work, this is just a bad demonstration
Hello, I wonder if the cars in the video have winter tyres, and if no I'd like to see them both in the same conditions but with good winter tyres, not so sure that there would be a difference with the snow socks.
I was gonna buy some for my 2001 Volvo S80. But my car has traction control like many other cars have. My car wouldn't have spinning tires like those two cars in the video. Hmmm why wasn't the traction control working in the BMW. I know ya have to spin the tires to about 20 mph before they kick in though.
@paintballme2 Yes your car would have spinning tyres like those ones there. No grip means no grip, regardless of how many acronyms your car was sold with.
I purchased these snow socks due to amount of snow and ice in Donegal. I was extremely disappointed in the length of time they lasted, 6 days about 4 trips in the car. A waste of €76. I simply could not recommend them to anyone travelling longer than 1 mile in any depth of snow. Im going to buy winter tyres they should last longer than 6 days!!!
Rubbish comparison - different surfaces used - very slippery ice without socks and much grippier snow with socks on. Also without socks they revved it ridiculously and surprise it span - fitted socks and stropped revving it. Meaningless, if they are good use same conditions and driving styles. Apples and pears!!
i live in the uk and we don't get decent snow in most parts, it tends to be patchy. the councils don't bother sending out ploughs or even grit properly. you find that the main roads are clear but everywhere else is under about 6 inches of snow, ice and dog shit! does this mean i will have to stop every 5 minutes to fit/take them off?
Yes it depends on the manufacturer, mine are from Autosock, original and best, there are cheap imitations out there, and they are not designed for continuous use, and CANNOT be worn on tarmac or they will rip.
This is the first winter ive had a set of these, they do wear out, but one set should see you through one winter, they are very impressive and grip very well, couldnt have left the front of my house without them as the 235 40 R18 Low profiles i have are simply too wide to grip in snow.
@RobBanx100 These are only meant for cars as the circular profile emulates that of a car wheel, they are not designed to be used as footware. Any attempt to do so could result in personal injury and/or damage to the product. See the instructions for limitations of use.
snow socks are completely useless!! i thought they were a good idea bought them of online off MICKSGARAGE.IE, got two trips out of them and they ripped, not gonna lie though they definitely do work great but they will rip and you wont get your money back! piece of shit search for my video the "truth about snow socks"
If you watch a 2:14 he delibratly slows that veachile in the worst place so that he looses all his momentum then repeatdly Spins the wheels... No suprise he gets stuck.....
@mimic58 Yes but that comparison only holds if all the other kids without armbands are drowning. I've received a pair of these and used for the first time today - had zero grip on thick balck ice under the car from last night literraly could no distance at all up hill from my drive, pooped on a pair of these - didn't look like they would work at all - not fitting well at all - so with little confidence reversed - and away no problems at al - they centred up automatically - would recommend these
@seanwmellor As yet iv not managaed to get stuck... and beleive me i have tried, How ever i did find it was tricky assending the steeper hills once it got to 7 inches deep in my little front wheel drive van so i might just have to invest in a set of these, Though personaly i find it far more amuzing driving past people that are stuck using nothing more than driving skill :-) The guy in this video clearly has no clue what hes doing , I could EASY get that car up there without socks no trouble

I found a cheaper way, I just hammered some 6 inch nails into my tyres no problem in the snow

Surely it depends on the manufacturer? A decent paid made of decent material should not rip after two uses.
