"Pre-process" means process before you process. The "pre" prefix is not needed. Just say, "Don't be afraid to process your footage before playing around with Cartoon." Same as "pre-heat" your oven," there are only two states an oven can be in.. heated, or not heated. "Pre-heat" means "heat before you heat." Just say, "Heat your oven." See? :)

Not really. Although "pre-process" does refer to processing before processing (or anything before processing), each process is distinct, and the order is important. AE is a "post-production" software package because your main production would take place in video footage or 3D. But obviously you would not refer to them in any other order.

Likewise, pre-heat is what you do before the heat is on. It's the time in between fully off and fully on, although your analogy doesn't fully make sense.

I'm afraid not, but I was just poking fun at the continued misuse of the "pre" prefix. How about "pre-boarding" the aircraft? Not possible. You can't get on, before you get on. In your usage, the prefix is not needed. Same as "pre-recorded;".. you don't record something before you record it.. so the proper English grammar is "this program was recorded." i think that's not a good cartoon plugin... to make a good job you need to work frame by frame as in "a scanner darkly"... sorry but nothing is simple.

You can acomplish the excat same result using just premiere pro cs2 and any photoshop version. Just export your footage as "filmstrip", open it in PS and apply the same effect, located on Filter Gallery. Save changes and open it again on Premiere or after effects for further corrections. See? No need of yet ANOTHER version of the same program! To me, the best AE version is 7, the only good about v8 is the puppet tool and the vanishing point. That's it!!! I haven't tried V9 (CS4) and I won't.

Can anyone help me with a pitch-shifting issue in Premiere? When I try to raise the pitch, it messes up the timing of the clip. I can't seem to be able to manually shift the pitch of an audio clip without changing the speed. The presets work, though..

You guys have to remember that he works for LYNDA which means he 's not going to give you great info unless you pay. he's trying to make it seem like he's helping us but really this is just an advertisement to buy LYNDA tutorials. Adobe is running out of ideas, but somehow they still need to make sure that all their programs are integrated but still delineated enough to warrant seperate purchases.

They troll tutorial forums then integrate all their product hacks into the next version. :( Most companies do this though.. Personally I'll boycott Adobe except i need after effects, photoshop, flash, reader... illustrator.. somebody help me

As a "programmer" I can tell you that XBOXs appeal is its ease of development which has become considerably easier with the new incarantions of XNA, and robust tools such as direct X and Vstdios enabling the real innovators the indie developers to foster creativity.. not really xbox arcade itself

phones get smaller, video games get prettier, displays will become concave - obvious conclusions based on emprical data

nintendo analog stick, nintendo "Z" lock -

innovation that isnt easily duplicated by competition because the technology is based on confined observation/intuition not global data

therefore it cannot be projected and always takes the market by shock, leaving competition to scramble.. not xbox arcade or movies

After effects is just an FX program, not an editor. You need a program like Premier or Vegas for that.
