it was originally known as the tri-cities. the 3 cities were davenport, rock island and moline. then it became the quad cities with east moline given equal status. BETTENDORF was the last city. the name was then going to be changed to the quint cities, but quad cities was too well known and so it remained. however some radio stations and news stations TRIED to get the quint cities name to catch on and called it that for awhile, but it never caught on.
I was born in Peoria county IL, but pretty much grew up a majority of my life in the Quad Cities living in Moline, my school life was attending: Roosevelt Elem, Wilson Jr High, & lastly Moline Sr High school til i grad in 85', i have alot of memories growing up in and around the QC area.
I was born In Davenport, Iowa. Pretty much grew up there. Did go away to college, but there was no way i was not going to not come back here. I love it. Great place to live...:)
The Quad Cities is a great place to live. The cost of living is low. Homes are affordable. The economy is pretty steady. The people are nice. Each city has it's own pros and cons but I think the Iowa side is better! Bettendorf is a great community and Davenport has lots to offer!! Downtown Davenport is very nice!
@thesignthebridge not any more the whole area is broke, east moline is laying off cops and cutting back patrols due to gas costs, low life from rock island are seen walking and causeing trouble in silvis, crime is up, no jobs to speak of...glad i left there a month ago, spend 40 years in that damn town and i never want tog o back

AVOID going to the QC. There is nothing exciting. Many outdated homes and clothings. Strut and shocker busters outta there! Worthless moments to be in QC!
What part of the Quad Cities were you driving through, doesn't sound familiar to me. Clothings is that a word? Outdated homes? If you mean beautiful historic mansions and homes. Guess you missed the thousands of recently built $300,000 + homes

This video is pretty dead-on.
I was born and raised in Moline.
Small-town feel, with unlimited possibilities.
Plus, we're midwestern, so it's not full of stuckup, big-city kindof people.
