  • How do you have this setup? if you can message me some specs, carb size, stuff like that

  • Why isn't yours making the metallic tinking sounds like every other? o.o And don't tell me they don't. I have heard it on brand new superbeetles, old superbeetles, every superbeetle imaginable.

  • @punkmonkey123 WTF you talking about? they dont make brand new superbeetles and they were never supercharged either and no superchargers make tinking metallic noises unless they are broken. If you mean supercharger whine it did make it my crappy cell phone just didnt pick it up real well but you can still hear it

  • @BoostedVW I'm talking about when I was younger, ever superbeetle would make a tinking sound when idling.

I was amazed yours wasn't making it because it's not the supercharger that's the source of it.

  • @punkmonkey123 oh right sorry i get you now, its the design of the standard vw peashooter exhaust that gives them that classic cricket like chrip. ive got an aftermarket sports/header extractor system on mine so its lost that usual beetle note

  • @punkmonkey123

In the VW world that sound is called "fweem" FWEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEEM

  • i need u to message me, please. i want info on some things! 5stars!

  • Wow, what an awesome job! I'm a noob to the supercharger but want to add this to my VW. What is the name of the supercharger that you used?

  • hi, its just a toyota supercharger from a 4AGZE engine, thats all they were ever fitted to

  • Wow instant boost how awesome is that!

  • Very nice work! I really like the things as simple as possible.

Do you have a auxillary oilcooling system? It's needed? What you think?

  • thank you,

no aux cooler was necessary, unlike turbos the supercharger isnt heating up the oil. the 1600 engine i ran this on was completely standard except for extractors and the 1776 engine just had full flow oil system, cam, lightened flywheel etc

  • It sounds perfect! I also want to build a supercharged aircooled, bought an Eton M65 last week. I still don't have the car and the engine for it, but comes time comes... :)

  • Ha,ha. That sound like something Id do! Last time I bought a turbo'd 1641 and didnt have a car to put it in! My wife complained, and said Id need to get rid of something(s) around the house.... Im going to miss her! :)

  • How much power was it pushing? do you have any numbers? Quarter mile times? or just seat of the pants fun rating?

  • 1776 was never dynod but it was good for around 100hp at the wheels. stock 1600 went from 44hp atw to 85hp so it doubled the output. never ran it down the strip but it did 0-60mph in around 7.5 sec

  • Wow, awesome! How reliable is it? seems pretty solid.

  • once i got the pulley/belt system and throttle linkage sorted it was no less reliable than a stock engine. drove like stock till u wanted power, hit the noise pedal and instant boost and no lag

  • @BoostedVW sorry for all the comments, im just bored as hell. On every charged bug ive seen they've been at 0-1lb boost on the gauge, which means your supercharger is running around 20lbs slow.. unless you have it -setup a different way, the best way, like i said is to have the charger running at 0- 0.5 lbs at idle.

  • @NickelbackPWNS All good, it's setup as a draw through system with carb before the blower so what happens at no load like idle, the throttle shut the blower just free wheels in manifold vacuum, it's actually reading 20psi vacuum. soon as the throttles cracked and engine put under a load it starts boosting. makes it a much simpler setup, just means it cant be intercooled, but water injection can fix that.

  • What dizzy are you running? Does the blower run all the time or is the SC12 clutch active? Are the heads and cam standards?

  • its just a german made 009 with the weights limited (not locked). it ran all the time as it was to unresponsive with the blower off due to the retarded timing.

the 1600 was totally stock and it worked well but the 1776 had a mild cam and it idled abit rough.

i havent actually had the blower on quite a while now as my bug is subaru powered these days

  • Holy shite I want one NAOUGHW! Kickass, dude.

  • we ahve a zoom tube know....very loud

  • a zoom tube on the standard muffler??

u'll notice a nice power improvement by dumping the stock muffler and fitting proper extractor system. i picked the supercharger up for AU$200 and it wasnt to hard to weld up some mounts and manifolds

  • great job what kind of supercharger are you running on that i'm interested in the same setup for my 1835 motor. did you setup yourself and what was involved?

  • its off a toyota MR2 and yea i did it all myself

not a real lot of work just make up mounts and manifolds and some sort of belt drive system

put it this way its alot less work than a turbo for the same result

check my other vids for what it can do

  • wicked man how much was the supercharger and was it hard to install?

  • What supercharged did you use? Shorrock or Judson?

  • neither its a toyota 4agze blower from a MR2

  • what fuel pump you're using now? i supercharged my vw with a blower from AE101. But when the supercharger kicks in it's like there's not enough fuel to the carb. Know what would cause the problem?

  • im just using a low pressure facet pump

3.5psi from memory. is urs a draw thro setup same as mine?cos thats all u need but blow thro is totally different kettle of fish
