  • only kings and wildmen have this way

  • Unless nobody noticed - the black and white shots in this video are an homage to Robert Frank's "The Americans"... very well done video. (And excellent song, too!... and that's Kenny Aronoff on the drums!!)

  • last time i saw this video was 2-13-2002 cmt played it when we all got the news he was gone

  • How he loves his "lady"...can't even say the word...without thinking of his Jessi...and smiling... and yes...he was one of the original "wild ones".

  • Great song, love it, great voice, one of the american´s best vocals.

Ask the Dukes.....they'll agree... I think this must be the song that summed up his great talent and probably my favorite.

    Thanks Waylon.

    God Bless.

  • WE- R- the WILD 1's

  • I will always miss Waymore, country has not been the same .

  • By the time WJ recorded this he had Diabetes,,,he'd lose a foot before succumbing to the disease seven years later. You can hear the pathos in his haunting tones. "We were the music,,,we had a song we could sing." God Speed Hoss!!

  • i was lucky enough to have lunch with waylon and willie one day. i was in houston town back in 88 i was laying steal for the rail road and they were doing a show. i walked into a taco bell. down there. and i gave them both a new pair of work gloves with the union pacific emblem on them. what was so cool is they were interested in my job to. i was just in ahh the whole lunch hour. god bless them both.

  • Neat..wish I had been there. Their music gives me a feeling that is rather difficult to explain..Bet you would understand it!

  • This song captivates me every time I hear it...

Major case of goosebumps yet again.

  • THE MAN!!!!!!!!!!

  • Happy Birthday Waylon !!! I love you

    and miss you.

  • I listen to Waylon a lot. I did one of his songs and posted it here as a reply to this one. Listen if you have a minute and give me a rating. Thanks a ton, Sherrill

  • ...my blood is freezin. this song touches the soul...

  • One Of The Best Songs Eever, we miss you hoss

  • One of waylon best songs

  • one vid that ive discovered on here to this tune and i mean it fits it to a tee search for sr-71 blackbird and look for vid that says takeoff and landing

  • Waylon was my dads favorite artist ..before passing 16 years ago..I like waylon as well probably

because I grew up listening to him and hank jr. ALOT !

  • My favorite WAYLON JENNINGS tune.

  • DAMN GOOD SONG. R.I.P. Waylon!

  • outstanding song and video thank you for posting!

  • Is it Tony Joe White who is one of the guitarplayers in the band? It sure looks like him and you can see him best at 2:05. Well it´s possible cause he has played with "the hoss". Does anyone have the song "so you want to be a cowboysinger" with Waylon and TJW? Please put it on youtube. Waylon and Mr Cash, you rules!

    Mattias from Sweden

  • Still an ultimate kick ass Waylon tune.

  • I agree with the other guy. I love Waylon to death but this recording stinks of fucking Nashville overproduction. Go figure, it's on CMT, where real country is long dead, just like Nashville. Probably my least favorite Waylon video on here.

  • Get with the program.

  • I know it was a long time ago since this was posted. But it deserves a reply even now ...over produced or not ,one thing you can be sure of Waylon approved or HE WOULDN'T HAVE DONE IT, simple as that, he was the boss in the studio and this was the way he wanted it ... not Nashville

    Waylon Rules.

  • A little different then most, but I still love it!

  • I'm a huge Waylon fan. This one is a little too over produced for Waylon...too many synthesizers. Waylon is at his best with the heavy bass beat, the earthy voice and those creative chunka, chunka guitar leads...I can just list to his guitar playing alone.

  • Waylon doesnt have any bad songs but this one is great!!!

  • I will allways love him

  • I love this song, and I think Waylon Jennings is one of country music's greatest musicians. I love this song, because to me this song symbolized the freedom and endless optimism of the post-war years and the feeling that anything was possible. As the song says "We were the winners, because we didn't know we could fail, we were he wild ones and we had the world be the tail."

  • this is one of my favorite waylon videos and songs of all time!!!

  • 1:40 TO 1:44 the coolest 3 seconds of video I ever seen. She was nutso about Waylon. Id love to find a gal like that for myself.

  • Nice job Waylon.

  • I'm 32 and been a fan of Waylon since I was a little girl. Waylon is my favorite country singer. This song is just one of my favorites of his. I play guitar but nothing like the way Waylon could. He could make a guitar sing. He had a unique sound and style. I wish I could have seen him in concert and meet him. My heart is heavy because we lost him much too soon

  • Lost him too soon is for sure!!! He is the best!

  • Does anyone know if I can get this video on dvd or tape?
