Oh, I don't know... he was quite upset with Maggie, but very wise about letting her go. She had a fling with either Mick Jagger or Keith... (can't remember which) right at the time they separated. In later years, she had a couple of drunk driving incidents and was diagnosed as being bipolar. But, she helped produce three gorgeous sons! -roc

Haha wow I don't think any of Australia's Prime Ministers were bachelors... I *think* they have all been married.

He let her go? but were they still married? How could it have been secret - aren't there documents or something in the Department of births deaths and marriages to say whether people are married or not? i guess they wouldn't be available to the public..

I just did some research, and what I gather is that there has only been one Prime Minister who took the position without a wife, and that was John McEwen in 1967. But he was a widower. He didn't sound like a pleasant person, but from the photo he is very handsome!

I also found out that William McMahon, who was expected to become Prime Minister instead of McEwen, was rumoured to be gay. But he got married at 57 and eventually did become Prime Minister in 1971. Unfortunately he didn't look hot.
