Another, all the lumpy edges are fairly easy to smooth out while it's still semi-moist...unless you put a fair amount of time, some will still be there but the big seams are quick to take out!
Woah nice, better then I did when I first made one of his ocarinas (ocarina0708) I started with a polyclay, didn't work so well so I just used some plain clay with a small amount of grit for better strength (I think) You should use a clay thats different from polyclay, it sucks cause its like un-mendable if thats a word...... Well then, You should go try it, it might be easier and better quality =D

This ocarina is of very poor quality, but neverthless i can play 6 different tones on it which is enough for few simple tunes :)
I find that great, because i didn't expect any sound of it :)) I only made it for the fun and expirience... it was my first attempt :) Now i hope to try few more times and get better with time and practice :)
