Britain has not always been a nation of immigrants maybe you are thinking of the USA. The last major invasion/migration into this country was by the Normans. Britain has an anglo-celtic culture which has been here since the romans left. No country has the open door policy on immigration that the British Government has fostered since 1945. What we have had in this country since the Windrush turned up and certainly since since 1973 is an open door policy on immigration. This policy has depressed the wages of most skilled and semi skilled jobs in Britain because foreigners can undercut British workers. It is one of the few policy areas that politicians will not discuss for fear of being branded a racist or having a pie thrown in their face!
