@hdllop123 most bands use similar tunings on an album. if you know what tuning the band generally plays in, chances are that that's what tuning it will be. or somewhere close around it.

how would you figure out a songs' tuning out by ear? Some people who post covers, and they say that they figured it out by ear, and the tuning is something weird like A# F A# D# G# C...?

@MultipleAdam You tune all the other strings to the A string by ear, but if your A is out of tune you need a reference note. If you can pull that out of your butt, then you don't need a piano. Good luck.

My electronic tuner broke a while ago so out of desperation I resorted to youtube and with your video and one of the tuners they have on this site (that I used to tune my A string) my guitar is now in tune! Thank you so much this really makes a difference it will help make me a better musician not to mention now that my strings are tighter I can hold bar chords down that I was having a lot of trouble with before. Needless to say its been a LONG time since its been in tune, thank you so much.

sk8rboi147 this is called 5-4 method.but i start from the high e string not from the low E, anyway it doesn't really matter.just let someone other tune your guitar and get into the ear the sound of one of the E strings, so from the high e I go like this. B-5th fret must sound the same as e open, G, 4th fret must sound like B open, D, 5th fret must sound like G open, A, 5th fret mus sound like D open, and low E 5th fret must sound like A open, piece of cake, good luck mate with you're practice :)

It depends on your guitar. If your guitar is one of the better known ones, usually they don't go out of tune a lot. If its one of the cheaper ones, usually they go out of tune pretty quickly
