I understand how your interested in SMT imagine but, the thing I got really disappointed about SMT imagine was, when you reach Destruction magic lvl 6, you start losing Magnetite and the last spell, you lose three hundred magnetite and you use those to summon your demons. also, when you have strong higher lvl demons you get waste more magnetite and ugh! that pissed me off for a long while, it even made me uninstall my game.

havent played this since the closed beta... was one of the highest levels on the server at the time with two of my friends, up around 35-40 ish and was around act 13?

Well thanks for the review, great game and if you used a gun...good luck with that. Melee is what a good thing but that quest list is crazy but combat style is your choice. If you want to a crazy swordsmans killing anything close. The Demon combo style attacks with your own. I can't say anything about range attacks, other than its prices could be better. I'll say this, one of the best MMO and maybe one of the most unheard of game's out there is Shin Megami Tensei Imagine Online, I played a lot of MMO's form GW,Wow a few Nexon MMO's to a few unheard of MMO's. But anyway this is one of the best. To every MMO they have an art style this one is one of the best.

To even well done cut scenes and a game system thats easy to do and takes only about two to three hours to get to lv 15 and easy to customize your character. Thanks for your review

It's not an MMO term at all, it's a game development one. Basically, it's a closed (limited to a certain amount of people) playable build of the game in its beta (early execution phase) of the game.

Do you still play? And if so, have you thought about making a new review? (I assume the game has grown a lot since it came out of Beta?) My only beef with this MMO is that they call them "Demons," where as I'm used to calling them "Personas" (I've only ever played the Persona games, so I don't know if they're called that or Demons i his other games/the novel.)

Still though, that's a small beef and wouldn't in any way shape or form stop me from playing.

Yea, they are demons. Only the Persona titles actually refer to them as personas.

And no, I don't play any more. Between my gaming pc being dead, and I get bored of mmo's quickly, I just lost interest.

I just get bored of them due to they all are usually reliant on having to work together with others. Bout the only MMO I've run into thus far that didn't force me into having people with me in order to complete a task was Atlantica Online. But that was still in beta when I played, so it's possible its changed by now.

Thanks. And yea, the Shin Megami Tensei games are all based around the novel series.

The novel series was Digital Devil Story. Most consider them trashy novels, due to the fast pace of the story telling and all of the bizare sex affairs and brutal fights. I loved them personally, but you have to find em online, I don't think they've ever been released outside of japan.

No, it's based in japan...it kinda makes sense, you don't find a lot of dark skinned people running around there even now.

Actually, due to the pigment of asian skin, when an asain obtains a tan they do come out just as dark as a black person.

Well...as you said it's the artistic style and after a nuclear holocaust the resulting fallout would apparently last for years and block out most of the suns rays. They also live underground too. Lots of reasons why I guess.

I thought it was great...at first.

Then I realized how flawed that combat is. I mean honestly, I don't think it would take me, or anyone else, a few seconds to get into a defensive position while someone is about to attack me. That, and the pet that never defends me...I've had enough I say!

As for the demons, I've never had a problem with my demon attacking who I want it to or healing me. You are actually giving it the orders right and not just letting it do as it wants?

Demon AI can be really stupid at times, you have to learn to micro-manage. Of course, you can set their AI parameters to a degree (as in tell them what to do or what not to do automatically) but usually they'll just use the abilities you tell them to use most.

Here's a tip. First, when you attack a foe, attack it three times(like always), when the foe gets thrown away it'll start charging towards you, before it comes near you, make your demon attack it as much as you can. That way, you won't get hurt one bit, neither your demon will.

no longer in beta, this is now a free online game provided on Aeria games. It's true that this feels more like a console game and it works really nicely. This is run by donations, which doesn't give the "best" items, but they're much better than those you can buy. Armor is really weird, I don't know how to compare certain pieces. As heals/mage I also have a heals/mage demon which turns out for very interesting solo strategies. I'll post a little more on his second part.

Been playing this for almost a week now... i think that this game is great (can't believe someone compared it to runescape o.O) I was worried at the beginning thinking weather or not you choose your own starter demon etc. and if not will it be wimpy? but i WAS really happy with my cerberus until..... they took him =( apparently you get him back at lvl 30? i am missing that cerb, he was the best! Now i'm stuck with my inexperienced inugami.....

XD it reminds me of a mixture between Digital Devil Saga, Nocturne and Devil Summoner. I guess my favorite part starting out, was that unlike in other MMO's you don't start out with a seriously undesirable demon. I myself was worried starting out because I thought they would have killed the Shin Megami experience, but really, I think they did the game justice.

I'm normally rather unlucky with Closed Betas, and also a huge fan of SMT, got Nocturne, Devil Summoner PS2, and some translated roms of SMT 1 and 2.

Nice to know it's story driven before I start it, I normally hate MMOs, but a good sense of story and world is great.

There's a quest chain you do later into the game, a dude ridding a demon will talk to you about it, and after doing the quest, he'll give you the Swift CHimera (I think it is) and the Riding Ring

Great game however I'm finding the combat and movement rather clunky. I did like the rock paper scissors combat style though. Having durability on items, which decreases when you repair them, sucks balls though.

Yea I commented on the movement in the second half. And I haven't really bothered to repair anything yet, so I actually didn't know that.

Once time when I was battling a group of enemies, my attacks started doing like 0-3 points worth of damage. After doing some asking around I found out my weapons durability was 0/12(something like that). So in the end I ended up buying a new weapon because the repair cost was more than the actual price of the weapon.
