OMG...I could name 100 drummers that I LOVE to listen to and learn from. I could name dozens of piano/keyboard players as well. But putting Corea and Weckl TOGETHER is almost unfair. As a "progressive rocker" I listen to these guys and realize how much I have yet to learn. It's humbling and inspiring at the same time.

I would just relish the opportunity to hear the jazz/fusion/funk shredfest that would come out of of a combination like that. I think I might have actually heard one or two mistakes. Sort of like Valentino Rossi (7 time World motorcycle roadracing champion) being 1 inch off his line on a couple laps. They use the term "aliens" to describe the 4 or 5 guys that consistently run at the front and who actually have a shot at winning a race in the current MotoGP series. The other riders just fill out the grid. The same degree of concentration and ability to exploit God-given talent is on display here as it is in those racers

Chick remains my favorite musician since i was introduced to him in 1979. But how about Frank's flying fingers, and Weckl....well there's not much you need to say about Dave's legend. If i were ever to turn anyone on to Chick's music of the 80's, it would be with this song. WOW!!!!!!

It's really become apparent to me lately that Dave Weckl really needs to go down as the best drummer to ever play the instrument. I'm not talking style here, I'm talking he really cannot be stopped as far as "depth" of drumming. He is an absolute Field Master General behind the drum set.  It really makes me sick sometimes that after 35 years of playing the drums, I am still not in the same league with him....

I do not know these other players he has on stage here but my jaw has just been glued to the floor permanently, My only comment is "no" I do not have a match for the Godfather of fusion jazz and I doubt there will ever be one

I was mega-impressed with Weckl many years ago, and he's only gotten better! There is simply no other drummer (past or present) who can do what he does, the way he does it. Loved that beautiful phrasing at the 6:05 mark. Chick always brings out the best in Dave.
