These players were meant to be the best for a long time. Gerrard, Rooney, Lampard, Terry, Rio, Cole all meant to be world class but even the germans said the camp was full of big egos. Its was always club over country.

Even though the 90's team competing in euro 96/france 98 didnt win anything, the passion for ENgland was there then. Shearer, Beckham, Scholes, Ince, Gazza, Wright, Dixon, Adams, Seaman, Mcmanaman, Owen.

Its time we chose a new captain and started playing the kids comin through.

This was one of the hardest fucking England matches to ever watch. It became very appartent in the erly stages that it was one thing to be beaten, but we were running the risk of being humiliated by a very strong German team.

Top respect to Lamps who was the only England player performing in that one and to the Germans who were very good sports after the game to be fair.

@KevMan005 Technically, WEST Germany won three World Cups. Germany, since they were unified, haven't won a World Cup yet, though they did make it to the final back in '02.

However, having said that, Germany are a much better side than England - and this performance proved it. England's 2010 World Cup Campaign was a shocker. I still find the 0-0 draw against Algeria hard to believe. And, even if Lampard's goal had been allowed, I don't think we would have won.

@Sandheaver Yeah I guess it was West Germany but both the West and East German Federation joined forces and put all their accomplishments together. Of which East Germany had very few.
