  • Just like Harold Camping, some intelligent human beings for some unknown reasons refuse to accept reality even in the face of undisputable proof.

Camping is so totally blinkered - as are ardent life after death believers - that he now is saying he got the date wrong! AGAIN!

What will it take for people to give up on things that are just blatantly and obviously unreal fantasy?

  • The ridiculous thing about materialisation séances is they take place in the dark, leaving the scope wide open for fraud.

  • However he sounded loud and clear. But then when he came to supposedly bring though a relative of a sitter the voice was very quiet and hoarse/whispered as if it was hard to materialise him well, presumably because it would avoid the sitter saying "but that was nothing like his voice".

  • Michael Roll was hoping a few years ago that David Thompson, a medium who has been promoted by Victor Zammitt was the real goods and would be putting himself up for testing etc, but I listened to some of his séances and they sounded very unconvincing. For example he had "Quentin Crisp" who didn't really sound like the real person but just like a not all that talented actor's idea of what he (a camp gay man) might have sounded like.

  • I find the fact that his mother was interested enough to name Roll after one of the named philosophers, so there's some influence there.

I've just visited Roll's website, which as no 'contact' button, unlike Dr Alan Botkin with whom I've corresponded.

I also find Roll's primary fascination with the merely materialist mediums very odd, given that this info in quantum theory. He comes across a very 'materialistic' spiritualist.

By the by, I completely believe in bodily 'death' survival.

  • @wingituk

He is fascinated by materialisation mediums (not "materialist" ones) because he experienced one who he found impressive and because he thinks they are more evidential than mental mediums. However history shows many examples of faked "materialisation" séances and IMO it's still going on today.

  • But when will Sir William Crook's experiments be repeated?. I have followed nearly all the youtubes related to Michael Roll. Looks like the Calculus is there, but we may not get experimental proof forever(until we materialize).

  • On his site he recently said: the Spiritualists flatly refuse to release any materialisation mediums for scientific experiments we are unable to provide the definitive proof that it is a scientific fact that we all survive the death of our physical bodies. With this proof of survival nobody will go to a Spiritualist church and grovel before their ministers of religion.

  • I refuse to believe that Spititualists - who in my experience are harmless eccentrics who get together in modest local meeting rooms, believe in life after death and want to try and give comfort to the bereaved - are so powerful they "control" all the people with this materialisation gift and are forcing them not to allow themselves to be tested so they can maintain their power and influence....

  • I couldn't be more thrilled if in 10 years' time this is becoming accepted by standard science, but he was saying exactly the same in the 1990s...

  • .... to clarify, I don't recall him making any specific time predictions, but he was saying he and Ronald Pearson had all the scientific theory to back up the "fact" that the aftrelife was a matter of quantum physics etc, and that we just had to get some good materialisation mediums to come forward and that the truth was going to come out etc.

  • @orlando098 This WAS almost exactly 4 years ago ... Where is it the, this new reality show 'come meet your dead friends/relatives'? Which sounds appallingly voyeuristic. Much like er, reality shows :D

  • First of all, he is making an assumptions that mediums are actually picking up the dead. They may be just picking up knowledge of the dead. Second, where is all this research. Roll has been talking about all this unbelievable research he is about to do. I would love to see it. Where is it???? I want to believe this. I'm ready to believe this. But when and where is his research and proof? Can someone point me to it.

  • He makes a good point throughout all of his interviews: He's reporting only what he hears from hearsay from the materalized people -- in reality, even if we prove that there are beings speaking to him through mediums, this doesn't necessarily prove there is life after death. I personally believe in it, but scientifically it would be extremely hard to prove that the "spirits" are who they say they are. This might be a step in that direction, though

  • @TonyDent84 Exactly. Thank you. Finally someone on these posts that makes sense. A medium doens't prove anything and we don't really have any proof of what Sir William Crooks did. The guy died in 1919. Where is all this research Roll is talking about. I think the entire world, scientists included, would love to see solid proof of dead materialising.

  • scientifically it would be extremely hard to prove that the "spirits" are who they say they are. This might be a step in that direction, though

    @TonyDent84

He claims not that the dead can speak "through" these mediums but that their presence allows for ectoplasm to form so the dead can materialise in sold, temporary bodies and talk and hug people etc (in the dark). If this is true then in-depth meetings could be held to question them and see if they really are who they say they are, and they ..

  • ....could be videoed with infra-red cameras

  • Lou Bondi is a great interviewer, in my eyes he has exposed the Gentleman as a fraud. Everyone see's things differently, and everyone has different morales on what is wrong and what is right. Michael Roll comes off to me as a Very Nice, and Honest person, but he is LOONEY as they come.

  • @avdion Michael roll has been discussing this for decades. But so far there is no research at all. Who are these 'mediums.' Most I know have been debunked as actors, cold readers and cons? Can he at least show a single medium he would consider to be a legit medium? Anyone? I would love to believe in this, but so far all we have is talk.

  • @BushidoCode72

Exactly. I admire his tenacity, and think he is 100 % sincere, but where the heck is the proof?

  • UFOs are a reality, so are many intelligences in the universe. God is a intelligence of matter you come from this pool are return in Ayn's of time---Mediums are not always correct and many are there for gain for themselves in a imperfect world

  • I used to think all this stuff was bunk until I started to experience lucid dreams. Waking up inside a non physical world - able to touch walk and run - all these experiences totally changed my perception of what reality really is...

  • @CharmingLordSausage

That sounds really interesting; but from there, to say that our minds/consciousness do not need the physical brain is still a BIG step, which your experience doesn't prove. What could prove it, for example, would be if anyone could consistently project out of their body, in this real-time, physical world, and go and look at what was happening in the next room etc. But no one can.

  • @orlando098 Oh yes they can! My oldest friend, an architect in the UK regularly does this and has given me absolute proof of his having done so. There are many more who can project at will. Take a look at the Morse (I think) videos here on YT.

Have you just started your research? Not sniping but you come across as something of a noob to all this.

  • @wingituk

No I have not just started my research on this, I was listening to Michael Roll talk about this in around 1997 and was interested before that. If anyone could demonstrably project out of their body in real time in this physical universe they would have claimed James Randi's million dollar prize and had themselves scientifically tested and revolutionised modern science and maybe got a Nobel prize or something.

  • @orlando098 - Randi's "prize" is unclaimable, according to Victor Zammit in his book "A Lawyer Presents the Case for the Afterlife". It's available at his website, for free, as a .pdf. Randi has set up such a set of conditions that no one is able to claim the money. Randi is, however, making a very good living as a debunker and that is how he protects his income. A perfect piece of materialist brick wall work, as Michael Roll mentions earlier in this interview.

  • @deltavee2

If you say so, but I have been pretty unimpressed by what I've seen of Victor Zammit, so I'll take his comments with a pinch of salt. For example he makes a show of being very scientific in his approach (though he's a lawyer, not a scientist) but then promotes a certain "materialisation" medium who seems to me at a cursory listening to some recordings of his sessions, and having read articles about him on Spiritualist sites, to be a pretty obvious fraud.
