  • blue blue day, must igo away? for a hundred steps or so yes!!!!!!!!!

  • HOw gay.

  • had this on vinyl in the 80's.... the album has even better tunes on it.. can't recall the name of the LP tho.. sadly

  • @whipzter2 That title was "About Face".....

  • Quirky little song...but I kinda like it!

  • my god... FUCK THE 80´S

  • LIke it or not, it's still just an artist experimenting. It was the 80s after all. Everybody was trying new things. Some pulled it off and I guess some didn't. If David (or any real artist for that matter) did the same thing year after year, I think it would get pretty damn BORING. Me, I just like the song and video...different strokes for different folks, I suppose. Now, if ol' Dave started rapping or wearing size 8X pants or a tattooed head, it would be damn appalling...

  • I remember actually watching this on MTV in 1984, and it cemented my respect for Pink Floyd, no matter what they attempted. And...it planted the seed for the Momentary Lapse of Reason LP (great album, by the way). Of course, the video's premise IS a tad silly. Still, at least Gilmour had a bit of a sense of humor about this. That, alone, is what makes him the hero he is today.

  • This is cool video and song. The 80's was so musically creative!

  • i think there was a lot of coke available when they storyboarded this video

  • It's a great song, but the video is an embarrassment. As a song, reminds me of ONE SLIP, which is tremendous, so that's okay--but the video is hideous. Blech.

Then again, a LOT of guys who made videos in the early 80's probably wish they could get a do-over again, I bet!

  • @JohnApparite one slp is nice...the bridge remind me crash bandicoot

  • I've loved this song ever since I first heard the opening riff way back in 1984... and this was before I'd heard any of David's work with the band.

  • I love this song .. Gilmour and floyd ... it's like mary poppins on acid !!! great song .. SHIT video ......

  • You can convert this to an mp3 at instantmp3s..com

  • david...not...

  • my very first rock concert was david gilmour at the greek theater in Berkeley California in 1984 for his about face album. too bad he doesn't play these songs anymore-this was a great album. his use of delay on this song is amazing

  • haven't we learned by now that rock n roll can't go disco(see kiss for more details), that's like metallica doing a rap.

  • @happyface4444 But it's not disco. It's not Pink Floyd music, but it's not "disco."

  • lol gilmour cant be serious :D :D

  • this is pure garbage

  • @masterfuji000 No it's just the only music that white people can dance to.(but still it's garbage)

  • Oh God, you guys should get a life - the song and the video are cool, funky and fun. Love it.

  • I've never seen this video before, can't believe he was able to do this kind of stuff, its funny though, but it isn't his style at all, and when he bends down...mmmm I felt embarrased for him, I never thought he could ever do that! but my respect for him, anyway, he is still GILMOUR!

  • WHY are there NO tabs???

  • Is this the Irish version of Thriller?

  • GARBAGE

  • oh hahahahaha! One of the many things wrong with this video: Gilmour getting down on one knee like a hair-metal guitarist to play a solo. I still love 'im, though :)

  • i like this song, kinda riminds me of run like hell

  • Very English.I love it!

  • this is what I love about him , the great man who makes things like dark side of the moon and animals is not afraid to show another funky side of him and makes dancy , catchy , light and disco music .. Gilmour ... is .. the ... man

  • David Gilmour should not be left alone to make music on his own... This video is absolutely crap... If I were him, I'd buy up every copy I could

  • VERY VERY HOLLY SHIT!

  • The song is great. The horns arrangement and the dancing aren't. That's it.

  • What the hell did I just see

  • great 80s tune love it. even better album everysong

  • Did anyone expect to see Crockett and Tubbs pop up?

  • This is actually a pretty good song, but the Phil Collins-esque horns totally date it.

  • Huh. I guess one can't ALWAYS write Comfortably Numb.

  • i am david gilmours biggest fan but that is the cheesiest video i have ever seen!!!

he clearly isnt interestested in myming and what is all that dancing about??

love the tune but wonder what DG thinks when he looks back!!

  • The live version is very good.

  • my grandad had a jumper like that its very nice

  • I listened to About Face all the time when I was 14-15. Decades ago... Such a good album! Dave can play and write great songs!

  • you gotta love david gilmour

  • I always loved this track and this video and have a soft spot for thic slip. I remember MTV used to play this constantly. David Gilmour on the Beyond the Floyd documentary said he didn't want to make videos for the album as it would be interfering with rehearsals for his About Face tour but EMI and CBS needed a promo tool until Gilmour toured. This was the single but US rock radio played All Lovers Are Deranged and Murder instead of this and Love On the Air.

  • I've never seen that. Amazing stuff, thanks a lot!!!

  • Comment removed

  • LOVE this song & music-video!!! :)

  • the solo should´ve been longer

  • Why couldnt he have just stuck with the geisha girls from Not Now John.

  • urm, that would be storm thorgerson you're talking about. He designed the dark side of the moon album cover along with other PF covers. I definitely wouldn't shoot him.

  • lol

  • og goshhhh.... this eightees were pure sh*t. dumb video but as someone earlier wrote David is still David (I mean THE GREATEST AND MOST FANTASTIC GUY ON THIS PLANET).

  • dumb video but still david is pure class

  • whats with the sweater? man love gilmour, i mean the song starts off cool kinda like the live version of run like hell but come on oh well still awesome

  • Lol, I thought I was the only one who thought the intro sounds like Run Like Hell...

  • now compare this to the direction waters was going on kaos. imagine the ways of the floyd in the early 80s. mustve been hell for all

  • I loove the solo at the fade out, esp. the overtones......soooooo Gilmour. By the way, on the album, that's Steve Winwood on the organ solo (as if you could not tell)

  • He sure wasn't trying to be a pretentious, pseudo artist like Watters. It is a good piece with excellent musicianship and antersting visuals. Remember - it's 1984.

  • You don't consider this video pretentious?

  • i think he was trying to compete with robert palmer at the time...

  • David Gilmour said on a radio interview with well respected American DJ Redbeard on In the Studio episode for Gilmour's On an Island album in 2006 (I have the interview). He says "AF has some great moments (You Know I'm Right, Murder, All Lovers Are Deranged and Near the End he holds in regard) but the whole flavor of it is too '80s for my current tastes and tried to be different to PF", end quote. This clip was directed by the legendary Storm Thorgerson (who did most of PF's album sleeves).

  • WTF??? He musta lost a bet...

  • Apparantly it's about Thatcher.

  • I'd say I can die in peace now, this is simply awesome

  • nah horrible...los 80's causaron estragos en gilmour :S

  • This video makes me cringe - it must be the campest music video in history. Gilmour looks completely ridiculous in this: it's just not his style. Not exactly his best work anyway

  • I like this song... If you took away the horns it would be a killer song...

  • Well, I'm seeing mixed reviews for the song here, but I find it quite good, considering the time period that it came from.

On the other hand this is easily one of the cheesiest films I've ever seen. This makes the TV show "Due South" look expertly written and brilliantly executed.

  • this reminds me of Squeeze, another 80s band. VERY 80s, but that's not necessarily a bad thing

  • No Parody just some prick of a video director

You know the type all pony tail and YAR YAR!!!

Fucking ruined a truly briliant song !!!

  • There wasn't much to ruin

  • Great song. Bad video.

  • You can tell that Gilmour is parodying THE WALL MOVIE, with the masks and the dancing.

  • Lame!

  • Whoa, it's west side story all over again :P

  • I'm a die hard fan of David Gilmour and Pink Floyd, but what the fuck was that??!!

  • ...sounds like his version of Sussudio.

I can't warm up to it either.

  • Not bad, quite catchy. I usually really hate 80's music. I love his voice and guitar sound.

  • Truly dreadful! I have footage of Gilmour doing this live on "The Tube" from 1984 which believe it or not is even worse! Let me get my Betamax out and upload it!

  • I remember MTV played this video a bit, moreso than Roger's Pros and Cons clip in 1984 and I always like the clip. Storm Thorgerson directed it. About Face was a great album and in 2006 David Gilmour said it had great moments but the album is too 80s for his current tastes now.

  • I saw Gilmour on the About Face Tour, The Band was outstanding. Great Album too. Thanks for posting

  • KILLER KILLER TUNE

  • It's so bad it's almost like he was mocking the 80s. I wonder what he thinks of it today.

  • Seems like almost every '80s song sounds like it's mocking the '80s.

  • He wouldn't do this on his last tour, saying it was "too '80s for his current tastes".

  • First time I've seen the video, but the song still rocks like it did when I was 17. One of the best, most under rated songs of the 80's. The video is totally different than I thought it would be. I'll just listen instead.

  • good tune.......video cheese/gay

  • Not sure about "All Lovers are Deranged" but "Blue Light" is credited to David Gilmore for music and lyrics on the album, no mention of Townsend

  • brt

  • I love this song but sounds so 80's, that u can think is some Phill Collins tune, Gilmour is great i love every think he does.

  • Actually, I think Pete Townshend (The Who) wrote this song and "All Lovers Are Deranged" for Gilmour's About Face album.

  • Townshend co-wrote All Lovers Are Deranged & Love On The Air. Not Blue Light.

  • This takes me back when I was only 13...

  • It looks like that song from International Star Soccer Deluxe, from Snes.

  • I normally don't find the name of David Gilmour in the same sentence with the phrase wretched excess, but this is one over the top video. Who talked him into doing this? Or was it his way of saying, "MTV plays really stupid videos so I'll make one so stupid no one can ignore it." I can't say this will ever be one of my favorites, but it's not the music's fault.

  • Is this the only video for this song...its over 20 years ago, but, I remember a video for this song, but, it wasn't cornball...it wasn't Sledgehammer or any other trend setter, but, it was ok.

  • 3:42 David you don't have to act as a rockstar when you are the best one!

  • I normall refrain from saying anything negative but, my gosh, this video takes the cake. Anyone out there got "All Lovers are Deranged" if there is any video for it?

  • This is HILARIOUS!

  • respect the music, not the video.

  • os lugares onde eles filmaram são legais, mas, por favor! isso parece aqueles clipes toscos do Bruce Dickinson! auahuahuahuahu que bregalhada =P

  • lol.... how gay... what was he thinking!!

  • this may be the cheesiest video i have ever seen, David should be ashamed
