This kind of spontaneous singing often can bring out a lot of surprises.... not just fun, but the sublimity of such music, when they are not intended to be "performed"
F'ing A! Amazing. And the fact that everyone's just sitting around "casually" singing with such feeling and precision gives me chills. Simply wonderful.
That's awesome, and it's the kind of thing we used to get excited about at St. Olaf. Standing around in churches and singing with our friends. And then calling from the phone next to one of the organs and playing hymns over the phone. What a different world...

In 1991, I stood on that very same spot as an second alton in the Concordia Choir. We were overwhelmed with the beauty and acoustics of the church. We began to sing "Shenandoah" (arr. Parker/Shaw). Your video brought back memories so powerful that I could almost taste them, and it moved me to tears. Thank you.
The idea that the choir would sing apparently spontaneously in this old church also makes me feeling wow, God so loved the world and I can see why. There is a reflection of Him if you look.
no criticism period. this is literally the most unbelievable version i have ever heard, almost bringing me to tears over the computer. wow, that is all i have to say. i wish i could hear them in st. peters....
Way to stick it to the Counter Reformationist Papists!

I think I started bawling at about 1:06. The guys are especially awesome (except for the dive bomb at 1:48, but I ain't counting.)
This holds together without fragmenting so well, and the roar of the acoustics in that place...geez.

Well, that had to be as much fun as singing in a tiled bathroom. One thing missing: Me, when this went down.
Absolutely gorgeous.

Sorry about the spam, my account must have been hacked or something. Beautiful performance, and one of my favorite pieces. Bravo!

Lovely, absolutely amazing.
Our choir is working on this piece right now, and I really hope we can somehow come to know it well enough not to need the music, like you!

Awesome singers! I love this choir.
They might have sounded even better at half the volume-more p, less mf.

we WERE singing piano... it was recorded with digital camera and I had to make it louder so it was audible.
olegurl2010 3 years ago
Oh well, I just responded to what you hear on the recording. It sounds loud to a listener unaware of your technical hurdles. :)
