@onebaka Hi onebaka-Vanilla isn’t necessary for the success of the recipe. The vanilla is simply to add flavor to the cream cheese; you could actually use any flavor, such as orange extract.

Definitely better from scratch. Years ago, Kraft used to put out decent recipes in its mailouts, but now the recipes are merely ads for all of their "shortcut" products, presumably to cater to the soccer moms who just have no time to cook real food, darn it. Honestly, I'm surprised that they didn't specify a brownie mix, because I'm sure that one of Kraft's brands makes one!
