Yes, the handbags are assembled by hand but it takes years to learn the craft as to how to do certain things correctly. There is a specific way to doing everything. There are special machines that they have to use to make each individual thing. For example, Alexander Mcqueen, in his last F/W 09 collection, featured ballerina slippers that took 200 hours to make per pair. That's how time consuming things are. Usually what makes the prices go up is the material and who it was made by.
