  • someone likes the sound of their own voice me thinks.

about as helpful as telling someone which end of the club to hold.

  • Ben Hogan on his best day vs. Tiger Woods on his best day - my money is on Hogan

  • ben hogan had the best swing of all time thats for sure i dont know if anyone can get close

  • The guy talking is Jim McLean. Whether he overcharges his students could probably be debated, but he's one of the best in the business. All you guys giving thumbs up to this moron are just frustrated because you suck and aren't athletic enough to take instruction.

  • I think if there is one thing that an average golfer can learn from Hogan is how he loads against his right leg - PERFECT PIVOT - that is where the power is.

  • ben hogan is te best ball striker ever, tee to green undisputed champ.

  • @Rgarrett1988 I think Moe Norman probably has him beat, but Hogan is without a doubt a close second!

  • one key to keeping it on plane is keeping the right elbow over the right hip bone swing center ,check my lessons out at hitmanhawky best lessons on the tube next to ben of course let me know what you think and thanks hitmanhawky

  • Count Yogi? What about Count Flatus? He was very knoledgeable, especially when it came to wind conditions..In fact, he would give you his flatus for free.

  • Hogan said the golf swing is a two plane swing, a backswing plane and a downswing plane. The downswing plane obviously being shallower.

  • The shaft plane is the only and correct plane.. look at Anthony Kim and Sergio.. and Sam Snead down the line.. if you swing above that plane in the downswing you'll never reach your full ballstriking potential.. and will eventually injure yourself...

  • muhammad ali is a boxer you dink

  • this means nothing since it's the wrong plane line..... it should run from the neck to the ball. that way you can see the hands running parallel to the plane line for the whole swing.

  • I am a professional and was a student of Jim McLean as a youth. Your wrong on one point but it's not your fault. Jim is discussing "shaft plane" at address from the "down the line" camera angle. That line represents where Hogan's shaft was at address and Jim is commenting on his ability to return there at impact. Tiger does the same as do many others. It is still hotly debated where "ball plane" is. Hogan thought though the neck. Most pros agree the plane runs thru the right shoulder to ball.

  • Also, remember this.A perfect downswing plane represents the path of least resistance back to the ball.A good thing but not everything. Miller Barber shocked Hogan and he said Barber's swing went against everything he ever believed in. Most naive instructors today would try and change Hogan,Trevino and Sergio Garcia's swing plane if they came to them as youth's. Hogan NEVER wanted to know what his swing looked like.Didn't care what he was doing "wrong" as long as he got what he wanted.Cheers.

  • Learn to own your individual swing and be in command of it. If you can hit 9 greens in regulation you can be scratch. Make 3 birds in 9 attempts and get up and down 6 out of 9 attempts. You just shot 70,71 or 72. Once you're a comptetent ball striker (no need to be great) short game is EVERYTHING. Great formula to remember and strive for rgmmiller93. Good luck and have fun playing the greatest on turf!!

  • There are 2 planes at address. Your viewing "shaft plane" not ball plane.

  • Sure,no problem. Golf swings do travel on different planes before impact.A person's height/girth have a big role in that but not set in stone. First, figure out if you are currently a 1 plane or 2 plane swinger. Jim Hardy's latest book will help you understand which one you are. You can win both ways but not if your stuck in the middle. Second, get your swing on tape from down the line. Freeze it halfway down and draw a line from shaft to ground. If it goes thru ball your on plane.Cheers!!

  • The guy talking is probably one of those teaching pros who overcharges his customers and can't help anyone improve. But...that is just my blind assumption.

  • Its Jim McLean doin the commentry

  • Thanks for reinforcing my point.

  • Hahahahahahahaaha this is one of the funniest comments ive seen in a while. Hilarious!!!!!!!

  • Yea, your blind assumption is pretty blind. The man speaking is Jim McLean. He is consistently ranked in the top 10 teaching professionals in the game by GolfDigest. He has been in the business for over 40 years and has golf schools on 4 continents.

    Stick to NASCAR UncleDicer

  • Thanks for McLean's stats, Cap'n Obvious. Are you overweight? Your comments imply that you are overweight. Anyway, you can go back to smokin' McLean's boner.

P.S. I'm not a NASCAR fan....i do not have a goatee and I'm not overweight. But, it appears you are half way there. Cheers.

  • @UncleDicer Yes, there are a few of these. I pay mind 20 pounds every weekend, and I never improve! I just learn about what I do wrong and how I am incapable of changing it, despite practising lots! Im the most knowledgeable average golfer in my street

  • @cockywatchman1976 have you fired him yet? btw, the more you "know" about the golf swing, the more you really don't know shit about it. i can't stand people on the range telling their buddies how to "fix" their swing in the next stall over when they can't even hit a ball themselves.

  • @dschultz6072 Haha, yeah. Ive found a good pro now. Im down to 7 and on the right track. Knowledge is key-but you gotta know what is good and what is irrelevant. Too many players know numerous 'tips'-you need to learn a method and keep within that method

  • @UncleDicer The guy talking is Jim McClain - a Top 10 teacher in the World.

  • @UncleDicer Yeah, Jim McLean is probably just one of the dumbest teachers around. His eight step swing is mostly just a bunch of overpriced jargon that wouldn't help anyone, except you, if you were smart enough to follow it.

  • @UncleDicer Haha-isn't that all (nearly all) teaching pros

  • @UncleDicer

All pros do that. I'm sick of their lies. They just know if they teach everyone how to swing properly they will be out of a job. I wouldn't give these losers a dime of my money.

  • @oxycodonez thats ridiculous, if they sort people out they get more money since people tell their mates and all their mates can see the difference, hence they get more custom. the golf swing is not just an equation and once you have it you're a pro. practice 10 hours a day, that the secret.

  • Jim Furyk is proof positive that you can take the club outside and reroute it to the inside.

  • He is succesful despite the fact he does it not because he does it!

  • He tried to swing normally and it didnt work as well.

  • Bet this is a pretty short swing (with lots of wristcock)....or NOT the top of his swing.

  • cool pictures, he only needed my putting trainer

  • I recognize that film from the Hard Case set.

    Thanks for posting.
