@sparky42 "The average bear has never even heard of a log periodic." Not until today, anyway. ( LOL --This "bear" just came back from looking it up on Wikipedia.) I never got into the "ham" aspect of the hobby - licensing requirements scared me off -but I was an SWL for 4 years ('87-'90) until an accident destroyed my receiver. (I do recollect what "73s" means, now that I think of it. It's a greeting you guys use, isn't it?)
There should be a small hut just outside that first security gate with a public visitor's center. That way, the public can take an on-site virtual tour of the station without having to go inside the gate.
I finally got to drive out there; I didn't get as close as you did because the first gate was closed. I was still amazed and excited to get as close as I did. Thanks for posting this. ;-)
I have listened to WWV to set my clocks since I was a kid. I will be travelling to Greeley and was thinking about visiting that station, but their site says they do not have enough staff for tours. Damn.
ahh used to set my clocks to this station. I can tell your a ham for sure. KBL925

Thought that was 2000 E. Co Rd 58 though? Maybe 2 numbers for the same road?
fernblatt 4 years ago
Yes, Colorado State Route 1 goes down that stretch of County Road 58.
