Birds of prey need a huge area to hunt and swoop down onto there prey. They are like your 747 jumbo airlines that just cannot pull up and change course.
Could the Wind Turbines of Chile Harm Blue Whales?
Time AARON NELSEN
Wind turbines are increasingly recognized as a lethal hazard for birds, but some scientists now think they're also harmful to marine life. From half a mile away, the whooshing turbines emit an acceptable noise level of around 50 decibels; but if some of the Ecopower turbines are placed as close as 10 meters from the shoreline, they say, levels for ocean life could approach if not exceed a more harmful 100 decibels.
"FEDS PROPOSE ALLOWING WIND-FARM DEVELOPER TO KILL GOLDEN EAGLES"
The federal government is proposing to grant a first-of-its-kind permit that would allow the developer of a central Oregon wind-power project to legally kill golden eagles, a regulatory move being closely watched by conservationists...

Would Lorelei Oviatt please tell us what these jobs are. This is just a waste of Subsidy Dollars we are all paying for. If there are investors in this sham, it's because they are getting millions of dollars from the government.... That is Our Dollars people.....
@devyn172: I am sure they see the windmills, but they are probably not aware that the blades change position as they try to fly thru....and then they get struck. :<(
Yes. Thorium reactors. Clean, little hazardous waste, inherently safe, not like uranium, lots of fuel widely distributed throughout the world sufficient for thousands of years. The Chinese are going for them now, by the time we have run out of money to subsidise these flailing things that produce insufficient and expensive electricity, perhaps we will borrow more money from the Chinese to buy their reactors from them.
@JungleUnderground of course geothermal is the answer. except that the free market, government, scientists, economists, and just about everyone not selling a geothermal system has determined that it's not of much use unless your Iceland (volcanic island in cold climate)

Geothermal is the best. Underground & out of sight.

@birdlady423 The solution is to take down all the wind turbines. It's the most ineffecient way to make electricity ever. So expensive.
