I grew-up in the '80s & I'm only realizing now the depth & meaning of this song.

The suburban sprawl was a result of the industrialization of America and the population growth right after WWII. But somehow the suburbia we've come to love has further isolated us as human beings. The suburbs, lacking public transport is far from the city & far from nature. It fails in the social aspect of man.
