Im about to invest in a CHI flat iron. Is it really a good quality iron? The one im buying is around $105 and im willing to pay that IF its worth it because I hate cheap low quality products that don't work! Plus I have thick African american hair that is kinda stubborn and I need an iron that will get hot enough for me..Somebody please respond...:-)
@4066jks Here's the problem with CHI, their irons don't have adjustable temperature controls. If you're hair is stubborn and needs something that will get hotter it's best to look at a Solia or a Sedu.
I'm looking to get a new flat iron. This was a very helpful video, but I'm still wondering what is everyone's favorite? Reply or comment on my facebook or blog
@lauralovesmakeup09 the thickness of the plates is dependent on the length of your hair and how well it reacts to flat ironing. So if your hair is thick and hard to straighten I would suggest the 1.5 inch because it covers more hair and will straighten it better without having to make many passes over one section of hair. If you want to be able to flip and curl your hair, as well - you could go with the 1 inch Sedu Revolution which has a curved edge. Hope this helped!!
Remington straightners are way better then GHDs and Remingtons way more affordable idk about conair but that was my 1st hair straightner ever ! And it snagged my hair and gave me split ends ha ha but I love my Remington and simply hot hair straightners I go on the lowest of low of the heat because my hair just a lil wavy but not overly wavy and I love how now I don't straightn my hair as often as I used to my hair is growing yay ;) omg all I do is ramble ok ima shut up lol xo
i am thinking of buying the GHD Limited Edition Pink Orchid but what heating unit is that? and is this good for me can i choose what temperature I want to set it for?
For anyone who is looking fora good iron, do NOT choose Revlon. The one i have sucks and i hate it. It damged my hair so much and the plates werent even lined up straight.
This video surprisingly contains many errors. 1) PTC vs PTFC(MCH) heaters: the difference is NOT in FIR, but in the speed of the power ramp or temperature rise. MCH or in another name PTFC is 3x to 5x faster than PTC.
2) The FIR is generated by the heated plate, and depends on the material of the plate, not the heater.
3) There is 100% ceramic plate, or coated ceramic plate. There is never a 100% tourmaline plate. The so-called tourmaline plate is coated by mix of ceramic & tourmaline powder.
folica sucks ass, and they sent me a fake sedu flat iron, that worked for like a week but it was really crappy and damaged my hair!!!!!!!!!!!!! and folica doesn't even have retail flat irons
If you want a professional flat iron and you are ok with spending around $140 I would highly recommend the Karmin G3 Salon Pro, it heats up to 450f with temperature control, dual voltage, tourmaline ceramic plates with rounded edges which makes it great for also curling your hair. Also has a 3 year warranty. If you do look at other irons make sure to stay away from irons with painted plates (colored plates) these can damage your hair.
Okayy.. so whats a good flat iron with: PTFC heating, good recovery time, tourmaline OR ceramic plates, has temperatures under 370*F, plate size about 1 inch wide, comes covered with warranty, and under 50 dollars? Is there one like this that wont damage your hair? I have VERY thin hair and its my first time choosing onee.. Thanks for your time(:
@CheeseFondue88 ok so what i would suggest is a solia 1 and 1/4 inch flat iron (this is not an ad btw just my own personal preference haha) that is the iron that i bought from folica.com after having troubles choosing a flat iron, too. The price is a lot cheaper than most irons but is one of the best pro irons out there. i hope this helps:)
I was thinking about getting a chi straightening iron. It cost seventy, but I hear it's great. Is that too much though??? I don't want to wast money. Thanks!
@maiipie as long as your confident with the iron your gonna purchase, 70 dollars is actually a very good price. you won't a much better price than that for a chi, and you'll see some flat irons that cost like 200 dollars!! so if the one your looking at is a good one (CHI is a pretty good brand, i my old flat iron is a chi) than i would go for it! i hoped this helped a little bit!:)
@pinky22538 Revlon makes a good iron for its value. There are better irons such as the Solia 1 ¼ which costs a bit more , but the quality of the plates and overall construction is better.
I got an Amika 1.5" solid ceramic plate iron with far infrared and negative ions, floating plates and variable temp control from 200-420 degrees on amazon for $43. It straightens and curls great and comes in a pretty display box. They have several colors and designs - I got Zebra. The prices go up and down all the time so wait tl the price drops to get one. Check the reviews here and on Amazon.
YOU GUYS!!! seriouslyyyy head over to a TJ Maxx or Marshall's store and you'd find top brand name flat irons for $30...no joke....i always get mine there...forget folica
i know..i will nver buy another flat iron from them in my life..but i did just get a flat iron call plug in ged and it works great..i did my hair in les than an hour and i have curly hair!!
i have a straightener its called the revlon, it sucks, /: every time its not in a certain spot, it turns off. its not that great, so i recommend yew dont get it. :|
it is not a ptfc..i believe that one day, it will be, but not now. Ptfc is just a bit better for high traffic usage and will last longer for you and just more durable. I don't like tourmaline because it leaves my hair greasy. if you want the best looking hair, dont look a the heating bc as long as you dont mind throwing away the iron sooner when it wears out, your hair wont be damged by ptc and some of them have real good performance
I like both solia and sedu (they are a good price for what they do), but If I could have any flat iron without caring about the cost, I'd get a GHD flat iron!
I bought a tourmaline straightener and it sucked. Maybe it was just the way it was made or what but it took forever to straighten. And it was like it was just burning my hair but nor straightening it. It was really stupid
moonwisper-yep. thats why i love it =D people dont need expensive hairstylist flatirons. go to your local walmart and you have a choice of many different kinds that fit your hair type
i have a phi, and it works great! i found mine at tj maxx for only $24.99! target has the same one for $99.99, and the website offers it for $69.99 without shipping. i find that it works great with my hair type, which is pretty fine. the only bad thing is that there is only one heat setting, which is about 392 degrees. i hope it helped! check out your local tj maxx!
watever one u use is up 2 u. i mean, would u rather have ceramic which stops ur hair from frizzing & don't leave "hot spots", while tourmaline is the most effective, letting u 2 have the hairstyle 4 a longer time. i mean, if u get the tourmaline one, u can just get a non-frizz hair product, but if u get the ceramic, ur frizz and hot spot free. Good luck making your desicion~ ^_^
i always hear ceramic is the best. what is that tourmaline? i have never heard of that. is it better than ceramic? is it more expensive? i have brown, nautrally thick hair, about four inches past my shoulders, and it is sort of frizzy. parts are curly and parts are wavy. please help! i don't have a TON of time in the morning and don't want a lot of damage. tourmaline or ceramic?? thank u!!!!!!!!!!!
Tourmaline is a new feature but it doesnt take over cermaic..i Have a nicky clarke one and its both and tbh with the tourmaline feature my hair still does get damaged when straightend. I guess it does lock on the moisture but not still straightening is bad for your hair in the long run.
Were you not showing the sedu as you were boasting about ptfc units..according to the marketing information, the sedu does not have ptfc? You said, make sure you get ptfc though..very few seem to have ptfc...anyway, I did get a ptfc iron, but just saying, come on.
so the sedu has all of the best she mentioned? if anyone knows... is the pink sedu as good as the black of the same model (revolution) someone said its not but why wouldnt it be? anyways :)
hey i have a question my hair is medium with bangs and layer. When I tried to use my straightner sometime my hair turn alittle wavy. I use my got2 heat protection so my hair won't get damage. How can I find a very good straightner and won't damage my hair? please answer my question.
i use to have that problem ish..well basicaly first thing is that you should deinitely section it well take your time and when you clamp the flat iron also use a comb and comb it throught whilst straightening it..Another thing is maybe try and product that would make your hair sleek or a heat protection spray. I also have wavy hair but my hair stays in style for the whole night
i think they do, since some of them heat up to 400 degrees, i've tried a bed head's tourmaline nano-ceramic on my hair(you dont have to get this kind but i do recommend it), i have thick hair and it works really good, and plus its cheaper then a CHI and i think you can only get babyliss online, and they come in really cool fun colors

please please reply as soon as u can..cuz i have bought a babyliss pro titanium one yesterday...titanium is better or tourmaline???....and is babyliss a bad???m afraid it costed me alot...
this was a great consumer info video. Looking at the super expensive flat iron that i wanted to buy, i see now that it doesn't have some of those essential features that a buyer should look for in high quality irons.
Im about to invest in a CHI flat iron. Is it really a good quality iron? i use to have that problem ish..well basicaly first thing is that you should deinitely section it well take your time and when you clamp the flat iron also use a comb and comb it throught whilst straightening it..Another thing is maybe try and product that would make your hair sleek or a heat protection spray. I also have wavy hair but my hair stays in style for the whole night

i used to have the same problem!
what solved my problem was to just flat iron my hair in smaller sections.

i say just buy a CHI hair straightener or a babyliss straightener they both work freakin great lol (:

do u know if bed heads are good
DianaRBD 3 years ago
i think they do, since some of them heat up to 400 degrees, i've tried a bed head's tourmaline nano-ceramic on my hair(you dont have to get this kind but i do recommend it), i have thick hair and it works really good, and plus its cheaper then a CHI and i think you can only get babyliss online, and they come in really cool fun colors
hope this was helpful (:

What about straighteners with combined plates? (ceramic & Tourmaline)
hyper12233 3 years ago
This video surprisingly contains many errors. 1) PTC vs PTFC(MCH) heaters: the difference is NOT in FIR, but in the speed of the power ramp or temperature rise. MCH or in another name PTFC is 3x to 5x faster than PTC.
2) The FIR is generated by the heated plate, and depends on the material of the plate, not the heater.
3) There is 100% ceramic plate, or coated ceramic plate. There is never a 100% tourmaline plate. The so-called tourmaline plate is coated by mix of ceramic & tourmaline powder.

My name is Maya Little. I used to have a grandmother who hated my grandfather very much. One day while at bingo, she had a heart attack and died before she could shout bingo. Meanwhile my grandfather died on the toilet at the same time. If you do not post thison at least 6 videos your parents or grandparents will die tonight at 2:00 am

this was a great consumer info video. Looking at the super expensive flat iron that i wanted to buy, i see now that it doesn't have some of those essential features that a buyer should look for in high quality irons.
Thank you Folica!

most informative video about flat irons, everyone who will purchase a flat iron in the future should watch this, thanks folica!
