  • A classic Maxin with a Detroit Diesel, a real classic Q with a nice growl, Mars 888, and Grovers on the roof....doesn't get much better! Thanks for sharing!

  • Fugly Engine.

  • The City Of Dayton Fire Dept. In Tennessee Uses A 1975 Maxim Snorkle/Engine Thats Still In Service Today

  • Beautiful sound

  • wow what a sharp looking engine I love the old maxim

  • I remember about 10 years ago some company near Norristown, PA had a fair behind their firehouse and they had their 1971 Maxim F-model on display. It had a 6V-53 in it. Loved how that engine sounded when the driver revved it a few times. CLASSIC!!

  • @SeagraveRules .

The only co. I remember close to norristown that had a '71 model F is Harmonville (station44).in Plymoutm outh Twsp.

  • It was originally gas powered. Underpowered beefed it up with a diesel.

  • That sounds like a Detroit Diesel 6-71 or 6V-92TA engine.

  • The original engine was a 6 cylinder Waukesha gasoline engine. (I need to confirm the spelling on the engine.) The current engine is a Detroit Diesel 6N71T, 6 cylinder diesel engine.

  • Thanks for the info. The common Waukesha gas engine for trucks that size was an 817 cubic inch 6 that was rated at 300 HP. The Detroit 6-71T is rated at 265 HP.

  • VERY NICE!! Was it originally a diesel or was it repowered? Nice Q!!!

  • Thanks

  • Wow,a real fire engine.That crap today can't even compare."keep it classic"
