@pastthebrink The airbrush will give smoother coverage, and you can regulate the intensity of the color by spraying more or heavier coats. The swabs will dump on a whole lot of color, making it next to impossible to achieve lighter coloring.
@CharlesWilliamOwens5 You can get airbrushes for very cheap, and very expensive, and anywhere in between. If you have a hobby shop close by, swing by and check them out. You can also order them online. Some people are very happy with the really cheap kits you can buy from places like Harbor Freight. Mine is a Badger 150 that I've had since maybe 1995.
Could you please tell me what brand and where did u get the spray-gun, I'm having a hard time finding a small one like that...Excellent video and beautiful holster, I havent tried to make one but I do work with leather sometimes as a hobby..thanks...
@hedgehog23 The dyes are Fiebing's Pro Oil dyes, and the colors are Light Brown (possibly Saddle Tan, but more likely it was Light Brown) with Black accent.
Great video I want to try it myself, were do you get the templates? I have looked but haven't found any. Beautiful holster, how long have you been making holsters? thanx steve s.c.
@stevelinn442 Thanks! I made the pattern myself, but got the basic know-how from the Stohlman holster book, as well as the good people over on the Leatherworker message board. Patterns are pretty easy to make, once you know the basics. I started making holsters probably a year and a half ago. This started out as a hobby for me - making holsters for my own guns, then other people started asking me to make holsters for their guns. :)
Could you tell me the name of this stitching machine, please? I wonder if there's any available in Poland... I think it really helps- I'm stitching by hand, and if i have 3 layers of 4mm thick leather it's really lot of work... Really good tutorial. I've learned a couple thigns and tips, so thank you very much :) Best regards from Poland, Greg
@gswiaczny It's a Tippmann Boss - hand powered, sews up to 3/4" thick leather. Works great, but I'm wishing I'd bought a powered machine instead (for belts, and so I can hold the leather piece(s) with both hands while I sew).
Is there an advantage to using the airbrush over cotton swabs?

@alexcubanplayer Hi there - my airbrush is a Badger 150. I purchased it in the mid 90's from the hobby store, and it's still going strong!

Wow that is one beautiful holster. I learned so much watching this series. I had no idea you could work the leather to such detail.
Very nice craftsmanship!
