@tjrxk7 and @wandarah yes I agree, that is not how global warming works. an article from the Independent looks at this very issue (snow in UK and global warming) and so should illustrates the process, it's called "Expect more extreme winters thanks to global warming, say scientists" - you can find it via google as I cannot post links in the comment section here.

Hitchins' comments about 'climate change' near the end of this segment seems a wee off now in retrospect as London gets buried in snow and the UK looks like a giant iceberg. {Does'nt sound much like warming to me Chris........lol}

My only reservation about returning the marbles is, have they considered the state of the sculpture that is still on the Acropolis? The polution in Athens has eroded it very badly. The Elgin Marbles on the other hand are in remarkable good shape. Is Greece prepared to preserve them?

The real ones are in the nearby museum. The ones on the Acropolis are replicas due to the things that you mentioned.

It is indeed very smooth, but in Hitchen's intellectual position, if you throw away the bottle... you throw away the genie. It is Johny Walker "blend" not black necessarilly. JW blend, period, is the best.

No doubt he's gifted. But if you are a writer, you understand how prolific one can be under the influence. One could say that burbon is the nectar of the Anglo gods, as wine is to the Latin ones..
