@miramiros - I'm a friend of Susan's from back then. She moved to Colorado many years ago, got a nursing degree. She is well as far as I know. She has a myspace
She Rocks. Totally. Amazing voice and sensibility.
Aw bummer. Thanks for letting me know. I found her on myspace, but I haven't heard back so I figured she stopped doing music. If you're still in contact with her, is it possible for you to give her my email? Maybe she' s interested in having a phone interview for KUSF in EXILE; that'd be fun. Or if she ever comes to SF, let her know she's welcome on my show. Here's my email: dj_nobody2u@yahoo.com Thanks!
@miramiros This will probably sound crazy, but "The Space Lady" is my mom! I'll pass this along to her - she's still playing much (though not on the street), and would probably love to talk about the "good old days" with an appreciative interviewer....
@huckdunsany the first time i heard your mothers music i was instantly a fan! ive been actually been thinking of how to be the male counterpart to her lol she inspires me.
I first came on the Space Lady in SFO on Castro St. on my first visit to the city in 1993 (?). I was simply dumb-struck when i walked towards her. Enchanted, i watched here preform in a little ATM alcove. Mesmerized. Hypnotized. I bought her tape and stupidly gave it to a friend who wanted something unique from SF, and who has since disappeared into the ether. The experience and audible stimulation of her doing "Georgey Girl" in her minor-key, salom tone STILL HAUNTS ME TO THIS DAY!!!
yes - i saw her in SF's Castro too, and i think she's the best street musician i've ever seen. i told her she reminded me of laurie anderson, but more human. (not to diss the great laurie, but the space lady is just so fantastic)
Space Lady soars thru the cosmos.. :)
