She likes her "big hair" look, and it's become known as her persona. it takes more time to get her own hair done than it does to throw a wig on. In an interview with Ellen, she's said, she keeps a wig and makeup handy at all times so even in an emergency she can run out and still be prepared. Said she can be totally dressed and ready to perform even, in under 30 minutes!

Never heard Dolly say that a wig makes you bald.. She has a private life where she doesn't wear wigs. That part of her life is bigger than simple public videos. We are not in her private life, fortunately never will, it's not out place. What we see is what is shown for the public. .In the bath, it was her hair, she has explained that hundreds of times. Also she has explained that in some cases the wig and her own hair are blended.. She doesn't lose her energy fussing about what people think...

well dolly was born with blond hair, says so in her book & is evidenced in pictures. it only became what she calls a "dishwater" color, like a darker blond almost brownish, when she was in her late teen years. she still lightens it & keeps it bleached. it's the same length as most of her wigs and she usually lets her natural bangs come through

So she just kept putting on the make up and the hair and she likes that it's "her thing." But I agree, she's beautiful regardless!

When Dolly had her 1987-88 variety show on ABC (Dolly), she used to set the early episodes up with a clip such as the one here - always in a bathtub. The opening credits of the show would play immediately after Dolly spoke in the tub. Half way through the run, the producers decided the tub thing wasn't working, so it was dropped. And yes, this IS her real hair. In her autobiography she confirms she keeps her real hair the same color and length as her wigs.

She does have blonde hair. It's naturally bright blonde but when she went into her teens it went a sort of dishwater colour and she didn't like it so she wore wigs. Also her hair wasn't thick, it was thin and wispy, as seen here, so she wore wigs to achieve the styles she wanted too. She's definitely dyed it to the blonde that she wants it to be (much like her sister Freida's, it's a white-ish blonde) but it IS her hair! :)

Yes it looks like her real hair. It's thin and wispy. That's why she started wearing wigs in the first place, because she wanted the big bold styles that were fashionable then and her hair wouldn't work them. She's worn them since she was seventeen, but she doesn't wear them all the time. She's a natural blonde, but her hair turned dishwater as she got older and that's another reason she wears the wigs.
