I saw Ted Nugent, Mandred Mann,Uriah Heep and Aerosmith at an outdoor concert in West Gemrnany when I was stationed there in 1977. That was one awesome concert. All I had was a cheap Kodak Instamatic camera. I did get a few good daytime shots of Uriah Heep and Ted Nugent. Aerosmith however opened after dark, and my shots all came out solid black. Steven Tyler was his usual wild self that night. I did get a great shot of Ted in mid-air jumping off from his amps playing Cat Scratch Fever.

In Aerosmith's autobiography Walk This Way they talk about this show. Ted showed up just in time for this encore. He had been hunting and showed them a bloody animal claw. Aerosmith was beyond wasted. The drugs, heat and performance burned them out for the encore. They made Ted look god like next to them.
I was at this show...Texas Jam 1978. This segment was shot during Aerosmith's set. From what I recall, Ted only sat in with Aerosmith on this one song. It was a fantastic festival though...besides Ted Nugent and Aerosmith, there were many other great bands too; Van Halen, Journey, Mahogany Rush, April Wine, Heart....
I still own the "Texas Jam '78" VHS tape...I transferred mine to DVD a few years ago. Maybe it''ll be reissued on DVD someday? Maybe it already is? Not sure.

In Aerosmith's autobiography Walk This Way they talk about this show. Ted showed up just in time for this encore. He had been hunting and showed them a bloody animal claw. Aerosmith was beyond wasted. The drugs, heat and performance burned them out for the encore. They made Ted look god like next to them.

I was at this show...Texas Jam 1978. This segment was shot during Aerosmith's set. From what I recall, Ted only sat in with Aerosmith on this one song. It was a fantastic festival though...besides Ted Nugent and Aerosmith, there were many other great bands too; Van Halen, Journey, Mahogany Rush, April Wine, Heart....
I still own the "Texas Jam '78" VHS tape...I transferred mine to DVD a few years ago. Maybe it''ll be reissued on DVD someday? Maybe it already is? Not sure.

and from what I hear (but I'm in New Zealand now, so it may be bad info) Steve Tyler's BACK IN REHAB! Ted's always been clean (and consistent). Aerosmith hasn't put out anything good since they got clean the 1st time. They were better when they were junkies.

I saw them tour together in '86 in Washington, D.C. One of the best concerts I have EVER seen. Uncle Ted was in rare form that night! Aerosmith had just gotten back together and got off the junk (Done With Mirrors album). Absolutely incredible night!

No - The Nuge is MUCH MUCH better than JP. I've played both their songs for decades (70-80-90's) and Ted's guitar parts are infinitely more creative and difficult to play.

Ted plays that old Motown stuff at such a high pace, that you have to know guitar to identify it. But that shows his talent. He keeps rock n roll at its roots in his sound, but takes it to a super-fast, ultra high volume extreme.
And yah he's pompous, and thats just Ted Nugent. HE doesnt need me or you to tell him how great or not great he is. He does it himself. Its that attitude combined with that sound that sold him millions of records and the highest grossing road act 70's.
