Hey, do you know if eclipse is used the same as shown here as in an imc snow leopard 10.6 with it's latest java version? Also, could you ask a fellow mac java programer to basically copy these tutorials to mac?

Update for tutorial !

Newest (20110916-0149) Eclipse doesn't work as shown in tutorial.

The only difference is when you make a new project, click "file>new>project..."

This will open a new window where you can select Java as your project type.

Would have saved me about 5minutes if I'd read this :P

@aiwasen Java EE is the enterprise edition so it comes with tools for that. You don't need it because you are using the Standard Edition(Java SE) so all you are going to need is the Java Developer one.

yea NetBeans is another IDE you can use (it was shown in tutorial #1) but which was bundled with a diff version of java...... its just like eclipse but a lil different in layout. (NetBeans is what i use, however you're probably better off following this guy and going with eclipse, because from what i can see it's a lot better at handling java so im gonna download it myself.

I fixed my problem guys. To make the shortcut, I simply dragged the eclipse icon onto the Desktop. This caused the error message, for some reason. Eclipse runs fine when I right-click the icon in the folder and click "Create Shortcut", then click on that created shortcut on the Desktop.

Eclipse is: 3.4.2 Java [not Java EE].
