Thank you for posting these....Such a blessing....My wife passed away last year. She was and Oglala Sioux and very devout in her Indian ways. We used to have a sweat in our back yard....She loved these songs...She's been gone nearly a year now and I miss her as much today as ever...I play these songs and burn some sage because they remind me of her and the good times we had together...It helps .....Thank you again...
@smittypants831 Yes, a drum accompanies all the songs when they are being sung in ceremony. It isn't included here to make the words easier to discern, and because this isn't ceremony.
Thank you so much for these videos they are a help on my walk down the red road. To know the meaning of what I am singing in the inipi and at sundance is huge.
white buffalo calf had came so it is okay to share these songs they belong to everyone who wants to learn them I am very great full o have stumbled upon them so thank you so very much
Hey, keep these songs up! I understand they ought not be sung before the profane but, there are respectful ones who will seek out these songs and honor them
Feel free to plug any that you like. The John Around Him copy was huge for me when I was first learning songs. His version of this one has slightly different lyrics.
@HuhaMaza also on Rosebud and the other Lakota/Dakota/Nakota reservations. You can get many CDs through the Sinte GleskaUniversity bookstore in Mission, SD. Or the White Horse Trading Post in Mission, SD.

Better to learn the correct pronunciation and the meaning before you are in
the middle of a ceremony and don't know what's going on. Plus it's cheered
me up a lot to be able to listen to these. Idon't think it's done in a disrespectful way here.
