  • Good job

  • I'm offended by how sharp that knife is.

  • Nice. Thanks

  • I think it would be cool to have a poll so TNPers can vote on blades they want you to review. Maybe make it a video and have dudes comment the blade they want reviewed and then use comment voting. Just an idea. Love the channel man. Thanks so much for all the great content

  • WOW, what an awesome intro for the blade review. Great blade review and very cool comparison with the other blades.

  • I've got a kobun (based on your recommendation, of course), and it's pretty much everything I need, except handle security. The AUS8A kobuns should be around 30 bucks now, because I got mine for $28, which is why I jumped on it instead of its cheaper cousin the Tanto lite (which you can still probably get two of for the price of a kobun). Had my doubts on the Krupps steel, but now that you say it's decent, I might shell out for it when I have 20 bucks to spend.

  • Bought one after seeing this review. Brother bought it from me so ordered another one. Keep your powder dry Nutn.

  • Hmmm, Needs more GIMPING!

  • Nutn, we finally disagree on something! You love CS SecureEx sheaths, and I hate 'em! I have four CS knives, and the SecureEx sheaths dull the blades on every one. VERY disappointing! Pls share if you have a cure.

  • i have a cold steel fix blade like the tanto..tho itsz called the kobun

  • it is a gerber big rock not a kershaw

  • IT'S A GERBER BIG ROCK MENG.

  • uh doesn't gerber make the big rock knife?

  • Nutn you need to make some 2012 blade catalog vids! I mean you will probably go to SHOT 2012 so it may be pointless but it gives us a good idea of what your thinking about adding to your addiction collection :)

  • Good review Nutnfancy, I wish that the Manufacture would add bigger hand guards to the blades. I have to agree with you about making knives overseas to keep the prices reasonable.

    Joe R

  • Thanks, Nutnfancy. Love the reviews, and down to earth data you send us. The information you present allow me to pick and choose items that will fit my system .

  • Bwhahahaha!!! At first I was wondering "What is booty cam?" Then I took a closer look..."Oh, that's booty cam!" Nice.

  • man, I cringe every time you (mis)pronounce "tanto." lol :-)

  • SICK intro and out vids too!

  • Great job bro on another great vid with some cost effective and budget minded products!

  • we wouldn't be over there loosing lives if Ron Paul was runnin this show VOTE DR PAUL FOR PRESIDENT 2012

  • Forgot the Mora 2000:) Thumbs up so he can see it.

  • lemme tell ya man, diggin the review, and deffinatley diggin the blade. your 100% right for the price point that this blade is offered at, it deffinatley meets and exceeds the expectations of its POU'S. people needa cut it some slack a 20$ knife wont be as great as the 200$! but deffinatley a great outdoors/camp knife or tactical fixed blade

  • Great intro!

  • I've seen a lot of bad reviews for that SOG Fixation, apparently it is a very common occurrence for that blade to break right off the handle

  • My Life:

    Eat

    Sleep

    Breathe

    Drink

    Watch Nutnfancy

  • Faved because of the intro. :D

    God bless our troops.

  • Great one Nutnfancy! that big rock is a gerber though not kershaw. awesome review ill be getting both

  • Oh man, that SOG Fusion. Whew. Second kind of cool. Or the Kershaw Big Rock for its blade shape.

  • Interesting. Had my doubts about that Krupp steel. Thanks for the info. I don't mind foreign tools as long as they don't abuse workers (I mean more than the USA does) or make crap (China).

  • Nice knives, but I think I would choose the CS Bushman (or Bowie Bushman) in that 'POU'... just my 2 cents.

  • Greatest intro in the history of YouTube!!

  • Thanks for sharing your data point! I hope @funker530 stay safe out there!

  • Awesome, Nutn, thanks. Fell in love with the big bucks Outdoorsman and bought the Kukri instead. Just saw these "lite" versions in the CS catalog and was really curious...seems like the Outdoorsman Lite could take up the Kukri's slack in some tasks.

  • the footage at the beginning of this is sick! thank you troops!

  • REVIEW S&W HRT? :) :) :)

  • FUNKER530 IS FUCKING AWESOME!

  • I do like that tanto cold steel one!

I saw that canadian video it's super LONG vid but still cool! AND YOU KNOW WHAT I WILL GO TO HIS CHANNEL & SAY THANK YOU, YOU CAN HOLD ME TO THAT!!!

  • That is a GERBER Big Rock Nutn!!!!!

  • NANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANANA BATMAN!

  • Got a finn bear which is in the same family as reviewed knives. Can't complain. A $12 blade that is awesome. Can say the pouch sucks because I know what the intent is. I was considering the outdoorsman lite but figured my needs could be met by the finn bear. As far as I'm concerned the 4116 krupps is great. As a chef whose daily knives are carbon I am surprised by the stainless.

  • Thx for another great review

  • @crowne Thanks brother, I like how it turned out too. Peace.

  • @nutnfancy would you please review the cold steel finn bear? I use your reviews for every knife i buy

  • @macstmanj3 He has a review on these knives and the cold steel roach belly, identical knives just with different shapes, get it.

  • Gerber makes a knife that is almost EXACTLY like that kershaw big rock, my father owns one with with a partial seration. It's a great knife from what i've seen, just wanted to comment on that and tell you that Gerber produces one similar to it. Not sure what the name of that specific knife is but i'll look into it. Keep up the great reviews!!

  • I wish i had a whip sound just like nutn. Every time i pull out a knife "wha-chu"

  • the knife and, covers it up so completely, that it is hard to retrieve the knife from the sheath. Instead getting a fully hand on the handle (saw like the Kershaw Bear Hunter you showed), you have to use a combination of your thumb and index finger to pull it out of the sheath.

Time consuming, ineffective, and unreliable for its P.O.U- tactical, soldier fighting knife.

  • Lovin' it! Just picked up a Kobun like last week.

  • Very good review. I like the look of both knives, and as you have shown, the 3116 Krupp's stainless steel is capable of cutting on par with say some other mid to lower steels (like AUS-8, 8Cr13MoV (one of my favorites), 440B, 440C, 420HC, etc.)

My only beef is with the sheath. True, as you said, at the price point, you shouldn't be expecting various mounts, Kydex molded, etc and so forth.

I am fine with the Condura sheath, but the problem is the design of that sheath. It runs up so high on

  • Gerber Big Rock !!! Merry Christmas !! DKG

  • Comment removed

  • I know you dont take let stuff interfere about what stuff to review and what not to but is there a request list somewhere to vote on in order to "suggest" reviews?

If so i would like to add the RAT/ESEE Izula 1 or 2 to the list of fix blades to take a look at.

(I really enjoyed the Junglas review.)

  • I watch so many Nutn videos that my wife is in the other room hears me watching a video and says, "That's nutnfancy isn't it?".

    "Yep."

    <3

  • The moment I saw that Kershaw big rock, I was like....."I must have it!" it looks sleek and light and From the contours of the handle I bet the grip rocks on it as well.

    -Solanum20

  • Cool start to the vid! I like the tanto blade one, myself. Thanks for the review.....Merry Christmas!

  • Think I like the Mora more at a lower price point for the same type of knife but with carbon steel

  • Those are cool knives, but why don't I have a girlfriend?

  • Johnj859

  • It sucks I haven't seen the kel Tec carbine in action yet

  • Hey nutnfancy, I live in ca and getting my first 9mm so can you do a vid on ca leagal 9mm's

  • Hi nutnfancy, is there enough gap in the seam edges of those sheathes that you don't need a drain hole? Thanks.

  • Oh, I guess it kinda says in the description too lol

  • Hey, the beginning clips are from funker530

  • @CarlPetaflop Glad someone decided to make mention of it.

  • Yo, Mission spec camo needs to start doing some booty cam!

  • i typically love cold steel product, they are quality tested knives at an affordable rate, the only crazy priced things are there swords, which is understandable, but if youre a guy like me with a knife fetish cold steel is really an awesome company, i know most try to stay away cause its not "a name brand" but i give the guys at cs alot of respect!

  • me gusta

  • hey nutnfancy love the vids just want your opinion on something i have got around $450 and am looking for a good tactical/survival survival could u just give me the names of some knives u would recomend thanks .

  • Referencing "Caddyshack", nice.

  • Chevy Chase sounds that's awesome !

  • My god I love DuraCote! I wonder if Nutn would DuraCote my GMC Sierra for me? hehe

  • i like the mora 2000, 14c28 sandvik steel, cost like 10-15 bucks , good blade shape for everything , good belly and still a delicate but strong tip , you should review this great knife,

good review btw haha love you nutnfancy your awsome

  • Needs gimping! Hahahahahahahaha love that name tag.

  • Are you sure that's the Kershaw Big Rock? I thought it was the Gerber Big Rock.

  • @GhostX1337 it's the gerber big rock yes

  • I don't blame you for not getting into knife related martial arts, Nutn. Honestly I think they're a waste of time since so much time gets spent learning to duel with a knife when the reality of knife violence is nearly always a blade in the gut before one knows a blade is in play to begin with. Knowing when to run and when to shoot is the best approach to self defense in my opinion. YMMV

  • they look like kitchen knives i dislike them

  • Merry Christmas Nutnfancy family and you fellow TNPers out there.

  • Happy Christmas Nutnfancy & TNPers around the world!!

  • 13.20 thats a gerber

  • I think "Gimping" is now a permanent TNP term....you know who to blame.

  • @freakshow2000 its JIMPING. just sayin

  • @freakshow2000 just watched the whole video. Sorry about that jimping remark.oops

  • @57mota its cool....you see it is Gimping, funny stuff but a keeper I think

  • Yeah!!! I was hoping for a nutnfancy review of these!! Dude this is like a Christmas present!

  • For those who are interested, I believe that combat footage was from, and can be found on funker530's page!

A big huuuuuua to all my brothers in arms in Canada and the US that can't be home with their families for Christmas this year. And to all those who never made it home, my heart is with you and your families.

WE FIGHT FOR YOU! support the troops.

  • Oh what about the "Glock" knife - I also bought mine at a gun show for an amazing $25 in OD green, another awesome fighting knife as well as a utility/camping/general purpose blade - love it!!!!!! – I’m really getting addicted to knives now a long with guns, packs, gear etc …………

  • I bought the Cold Steel - "Kobun" at a gun show for $25 & it's an amazing knife especially for the money. Mine rides upside down on the shoulder strap on my Eagle chest rig. It's perfect as it's so trim so there are no issues with it banging into things & or getting caught up, is awesome when going prone, just a perfect option for upside down on the shoulder strap of any chest rig. I also carry it in a EDC roll horizontally on the belt, so trim & light it’s easy and comfortable to carry

  • @ArmedCivilian556 That's a great choice of knife. Excellent choice!

  • @Boot2theDead >>>> Thanks brother, once you get them in hand you see the quality and it's amazing that you get it in a $25 blade. So what's your high value blade that you own/carry? Oh what do you think about the Rajah III by Clod Steel for EDC/back up defensive blade and over all addition to your load out system>>>

  • @ArmedCivilian556 I usually pack a Cold Steel Spartan as my EDC blade, but I'm about to retired it for a Recon 1 Clip Point plain edge just to give it a rest for a while. I prefer the thumb plate for pocket deployment though. Less to think about when you're under stress and need your blade. So with that in mind, I think the Rajah III is a great back up defensive blade if you don't mind the weight. If it's anything like the Spartan, it's kind of a rock lol.

  • @ArmedCivilian556 Not that I mind the weight though. I'd also say take a look at the redesigned Cold Steel Voyagers. I've got a Clip Point and a Vaquero model, both in XL and you would be surprised at how lite they are, especially for having blades that measure 5 1/2 inches.

  • @Boot2theDead >> Sounds cool, & I hear ya dude, weight does not bother me either, for the most part, or should I say “reasonable weight”. Anyone who carries a blade specifically designed for defensive usage needs a blade with reach, nothing less than 4” & nothing that is much too heavy to carry every day in a front/back pocket and/or in a e.d.c. bag. So what’s your e.d.c. knife option?

  • @ArmedCivilian556 I try to switch it up. For the last two years, it's been the CS Spartan, and I recently started backing that up with the Kershaw Tremor. I love how quickly and easily they deploy under stress. I also swap the Spartan for a Recon 1 clip point sometimes. I carry a Victorinox Recruit for small task or when I need a blade for a utility in public. People freak when they see big sharp knives. Dunno why...lol

  • @Boot2theDead I flippen love the "Spartan" that’s a bad ass mammer jammer. I usually run the CS Rajah III, a Spyderco Tenacious backed up by the Persistence & followed up by the Buck Vantage for general tasks. I change them up from time to time but I always rock them in sets. Oh love the Kershaw oso sweet as well. Than in my edc bag I’m rocken another 2 fixed blades, usually the a CS Spike and a Kabar tdi hidden in the belt attachment. People think I’m crazy I think I’m prepared.

  • @ArmedCivilian556 Absolutely!! People tell me I'm paranoid, but frankly, I know I'm not prepared enough lol. I'm relatively new to all of this, so I'm still in the process of gathering useful things and building systems. But I'm a big believer in having "layers" of preparedness in case something fails, gets lost, or in a combat situation, you become disarmed. I've been wanting to get a Scimitar Spike and maybe the Toyko and Bowie Spikes too. Which one do you have?

  • @Boot2theDead Well let me say your right on the money – it’s all about systems and layers of protection, because we all know everything fails. I have the CD spike and it’s a nasty you’ll never see it coming until it’s too late. Super sharp, with a massive re enforced tip and a sweeping belly, this blade has it all. Not to mention its small and light

  • @ArmedCivilian556 Yeah there's a few spikes I want. I think they are just awesome little shanks haha.

  • Once again you come thru with an awesome video showing off some incredible blades at an amazing price point, much thanks NF. Merry Christmas from my family to you and yours “TNP - 2012”, and on …….

  • "Hills" is one hell of an understatement when you're talking about Afghanistan lolol

  • I just cant get into cold steel knives.

  • @geardog32 Second that. Me neither. I acknowledge they are good knives, high value for the most part and certainly a wide variety to choose from. As a matter of taste, I just find no appeal in Cold Steel. I would never knock someone who does though.

  • @newcoyote Totally understandable. I think that, even though they seem to make something for everyone, they are still somewhat of an acquired taste. I'm hooked on Cold Steel personally. There's other knife makers that I feel the the same as you do about Cold Steel though. Everyone's got their thing.

  • Hey, when are you going to review the ultimate soldier's knife - STRIDER SMF?

    Thumbs up if you agree

  • @TactiSoldier Strider SMF the "Ultimate soldier's Knife"? On a soldiers pay? Right.

  • @newcoyote Well, they advertise themselves as such

  • @TactiSoldier Yeah? Mick Strider also advertised himself as being SF when he was no such thing. Anyhow I get what you're saying. Striders are great knives, in fact I own three(see my channel). For the typical soldier a Strider is out of the question. If you ask most front line soldiers, you'll find a knife is not that high on the load out list. Certainly not a $500 one they have to fork out themselves for. It's hype. Don't be too taken with image over practicality.Poor tactics.

  • @newcoyote I'll have to agree, these are tough knives, but far overpriced. Its for us, knifenuts :D

  • merry xmas nutnfancy and all tnpers

  • Sold me on one

  • How about the GI Tanto?

  • Wish you a Merry Lovely, Happy Christmas NnF for you and your Family, it was a nice review to watch, Thanks !

  • Don't you mean Gerber big rock ?

  • Bootycam!

  • Have you had any experience or have tested the SOG Tsunami at all? It seems extremely similar if not the same as the Tanto lite.

  • Krupp 4116 is identical to the steel used in Victorinox and Wenger Swiss Army Knives (DIN 1.4116)

  • Korenghal valley?

  • Giving a Tanto lite to my Uncle tonight for christmas......ill tell him to check out the review!!!

  • Happy holidays dear TNP

  • Happy Christmas TNP :)

  • Big rock review in the future ?

  • the big rock is a gerber !!

  • I know alot of fellow LEO's that swear by cold steel products.

  • isn't the Big rock a Gerber not a Kershaw?I remember checking ine out one time and not liking it too much

  • The becoming was like green berets in afghan mountains

  • beginning was like a battlefield 4 trailer lol <3

  • Loved the intro. Great video Nutn!

  • Great review on an interesting knife, but as soon as you brought the SOG Fusion out.... I've had less than satisfactory experience with the Fusion, which has put me off the cheaper knives for some time.

  • Merry Christmas to you and yours Nutn! Hope you all have a great and relaxing holiday!

  • Wheelchair TNP'r here. Can I just say how mad I am about the needs gimping issue... Why oh why wouldn't you offer a patch that says "has gimping" or "needs more gimping"? JK it cracks me up every time you bring it up. Great reviews, love the knives. Also picked up a sub 2000 at gunnies a little while ago based on your review. You got me interested in the outdoors and gear again. All the best in 2012!

  • @UltraCarbonFiber It's just the funniest mistake we made in the patches. Every time I bring it up I'm making fun of ourselves which is funny in itself. Maybe we'll build on it like you say ;-) and make some variations. Thanks man for watching and commenting!

  • lol nutnfancy if you smoked i bet it would do reviews on light ciggarettes

  • beggining of this video is like gaza strip

  • Nutn' you made my Christmas eve day!

  • Gerber Big Rock. :)

  • They look like steak knives

  • @89silverbullet You could cut a t-bone out of someone with them. This, I promise you lol

  • made in taiwan?? no thanks lol

  • It's a Christmas present from TNP. Thank you, and back at ya, Merry Christmas too all!

  • best*

  • Beat intro!

  • needs more gimping hahah

  • For an "old school knife review" it sure has a nice new school touch. I just found a new knife to go on the top of my list! Cold Steel gets it right more than often with value and finished functionality.

  • Love the price point of these knives.

  • nice intro nutn! best so far!

  • Man that looks like a great option for a USK. Something you leave in one place, hopefully never use and not feel guilty about it.

  • 7:45

I don't feel it's fair to level this criticism against a "katana" blade. Most Katana have a full guard all the way around. This is Cold Steel's doing.

  • I won't lie. I spent the first minuet or so looking for nutnfancy...

  • For the price point I'd be tempted to strip the old handle and fabricate a new one. Larger guard, metal pommel... yeah it will tack on an extra ounce or two but it'll look nicer and work better. Just my two cents.

  • Great video! Could you do a review on the Ontario USAF Survival spec 2 Knife?

  • Dig the old fashioned knife reviews as always.

  • price point is important to consider. but i feel like for POU's such as this maybe its best to throw those considerations and frugality out the window. do you really want to skimp on a blade in an environment where in which there is a higher than usual likelihood that you will need it to defend your life?

  • i stabbed my self with a cold steel knife yesterday it hurt

  • @mateohellabay78 I sliced my finger open with my new Rajah II yesterday. Tis the season for cutting yourself accidentally too, apparently lol. It's good to know that your blades are just that damn sharp though haha

  • What is smells mos? Merry christmas.

  • I wud go with the Kobun. You can get one for about $30 on eBay.

  • I used to spend a lot of money into expensive gear thinking that I would buy once and keep it forever as I have done for a lot of my items. But your reviews have changed my thought and I do end up buying some of the items I see you review when I need them. Thanks.

  • NEEDS GIMPING!!

  • I'm not loving the handles at all. :/

  • @J88Wolf Well the cool thing is that with them being so affordable and full tang, you can cut the material off the handles and make your own grips somehow or probably even just wrap it with some 550.

  • @Boot2theDead Ha! I was thinking about that earlier. :)

  • @J88Wolf Go for it! haha :)

  • At the begging were they really in war

  • @DesertWolfAirsoft Yes it is real combat. Please try and spell beginning right. It has been spelled wrong far too often in the comments.

  • This is the review ive been waiting for nutn. Thanks you very much and have a great holiday.

  • i want BDUs in Booty Camo!!

  • great intro, happy Christmas eve everyone!

  • how come i cannot find that longhorn hunter anywhere?

  • I was waiting for the Kobun !! LOL. It does seem like a slightly better option. It is a half inch shorter at 5.5 inch but it is now made in Aus 8 steel has a way better sheath, only 4.4 ounces, which is lighter. And for all those benefits over the "lites" you only pay $10 bucks more. Come too think of it why haven't I bought one yet ? LOL

  • Nut'n TV on Saturday morning. Good start to my day. Thanks nut'n. Just got some troy stuff love it. Flash suppressor with improvised breaching devise wicked looking. Hey nut'n i know you are busy. I was wondering where the best place to mount a forwarded grip in relation to a rail mounted light on a AR platform would be. I know you probably will not be able answer it's all good. Maybe TNP'S have some data.

  • Nice review! any chance you could compare and review some karambits in the future?
