I find it quite annoying that the US think they can moralize other countries about freedom and democracy. To me, they have lost this right as they are no model in those areas considering Guantanamo detention camp, US patriot act, illegal kidnapping, detention and torturing by CIA agents, the number of countries they have destabilized either by supporting coup or providing material support or by invasion.

When you talk about the conflict in Syria you have to know such background information. Bashar al-Assad isn´t the typical syrian dictator like it is Quaddafi in Libyia. He ist the second son of his father and former President. Proper his brother Basil was prepared for being the next president but he died by an car accident. I'm Syrian and I try to visit Syria when I can, its a lovely country and I am proud to be a Syrian American. Al Assad is the best president just like his father was God rest his soul. There is nothing to fear in Syria, all my family members have the right to study what they want (with good grades of course), go out where ever they want, and do anything. There really is no dictatorship, I mean you cant go up to the police and say F U or anything just like it is here.

Syria has alot of problems :) But i know syria is a very proud country and that it is slowly developing. The problems did not begun with Al Assad, he is not to blame. Syria does not have the advantages alot of modern countries have, it has to build an industry and improve the economy.

Enough monopole of power, the Arab street must have their voice. The Arabic civilisation lives one of its darkest days just because a handful of people are taking the country hostage. Everday police go to Syrian hospitals looking for the injured (they suspect that the injuries come from confrontation at protest demonstrations). Many doctors who've spoken out against the police army methods of abuse have gone missing as well. Ppl can't even debate freely online about Assad. Why are defending this asshole ? When you talk about the conflict in Syria you have to know such background information. Bashar al-Assad isn´t the typical syrian dictator like it is Quaddafi in Libyia. He ist the second son of his father and former President. Proper his brother Basil was prepared for being the next president but he died by an car accident. Bashar was educated in medicine on an University in London. He isn´t educated to lead a country. Nevertheless best wishes to the demonstrators from Germany

I at least think he's a better example of the Corleone-style mafia "godfather" than Saif al-Islam, the scion of Muammar al-Gaddafi and someone who has also been described as the Arab "Corleone."

I'm Syrian and I try to visit Syria when I can, its a lovely country and I am proud to be a Syrian American. Al Assad is the best president just like his father was God rest his soul. There is nothing to fear in Syria, all my family members have the right to study what they want (with good grades of course), go out where ever they want, and do anything. There really is no dictatorship, I mean you cant go up to the police and say F U or anything just like it is here.

Syria has alot of problems :) But i know syria is a very proud country and that it is slowly developing. The problems did not begun with Al Assad, he is not to blame. Syria does not have the advantages alot of modern countries have, it has to build an industry and improve the economy.
People's incomes will go up, living standards will improve, and people will be happier :)
It is impossible to make 100% people happy, even in democracy. Never forget that :)

Belgium (as an example) has a true democracy. wich causes them to have 5 governments just for their little country, and their government has fallen multiple times (currently there is NONE)
