Y is it that I never feel bad about deathcab, but seeing your gratuitous "emotive" images of my cousins in Africa is offensive. Yeah, sure, you can write it off or realize that there is no logical reason for you to put the black people in the video in the first place. When the next black guy is walking down your street remember this video and try not to look so scared.

i don't understand how you think narrow stairs sucks. you have to listen to it as an album instead of just one song at a time. besides, Gibbard said he was aiming for something a little darker, and he hit the nail on the head. This is by far one of DCfC's best albums. For instance, look at "Your New Twin-Sized Bed". One of the best songs they've ever made in my opinion, because everything just clicks. give it another listen. but, hey, its your opinion, and i cant change it if you dont want me to
This album is good, but I agree with billthebutcher, new listeners won't be used to it, I personally prefer Transatlanticism, but Death Cab owns, nonetheless.
I think its tough for some death cab fans to digest this album because its a change, but i agree that its probably the best album although it will definitely not be their most popular album.

I saw these guys live when they came to Toronto. It was absolutely the most amazing experience to be within a stones-throw distance from Ben & the band. Awesome song, awesome album...DCFC has yet to disappoint.
"Before" at 0:42 is visible but only if you really look for it. I don't think its intentional- just one of those things that you can find if you imagine you found it. Kinda like Satan's face or angels in the 911 smoke.

this is definitely one of my favorite songs from narrow stairs. to be honest i was kind of disappointed in ben with the a majority of the lyrics... but maybe i was just being to critical and expected something humanly impossible... even for benny :P
overall its a good addition to death cab, but in my opinion transatlanticism is their best work so far.
this album is undoubtedly going to grow on me over time though...

that's so funny. it's expressive hun, not what you call emo. emo originated as a form of screamo rock that had to do with anger not suicide or sadness. come on now, be smarter than that. and Death Cab for Cutie is classified as Indie Rock not 'emo'.

baha, are you seriouse? look at there web site,myspace,purevolume, pretty much everywhere you look they are listed as an emo band, and , do you listen to any of there music ? perhaps seen the music video for 'what sarah said' wich consists of a girl cutting herself!lets pull some lines from some song. -> this continues on the next comment

this is definitely one of my favorite songs from narrow stairs. to be honest i was kind of disappointed in ben with the a majority of the lyrics... but maybe i was just being to critical and expected something humanly impossible... even for benny :P
overall its a good addition to death cab, but in my opinion transatlanticism is their best work so far.
this album is undoubtedly going to grow on me over time though...
