I must agree with you on many points, and I also agree that a new body is needed. For the near term I can't see that happening, and in instances like Somalia the disbanding of the UN before there is something to replace it would only make things worse. and there4 notto be blamed. A couple of examples here.

1.Iraq invades Kuwait illegally.The UN acts quickly to stop the ivasion.

2.The US invades Iraq illegally without the UN. No body does sth about it.

3.Israel invades Lebanon. The UN did not do anything about it.

4Iran is accussed of Nuclear weapons. The UN passes series of sanctions.

5.israel has nuclear weapons. The UN does not talk about.

Did you even read my previous posts you idiot! The UN is a skeletal organisation with its member states dictating its will. The problem is not with the UN but rather its member-states so if you have a problem write to your shitty government. Its the member states that are impartial!

I agree its not perfect and the General Secretary does agree with this BUT the UN and the GS does not dictate proceedings.

A hundred thousand people fleeing - that's a staggering figure. And now, with violence increasing in Somalia, the chance of them having a home to go to anytime soon is getting smaller. What's more, living as they do in camps and slums, these people will now be vulnerable to the impacts of rising food costs, especially in terms of how much food aid is available. A very sad story, but one we have to hear. Thanks again, Al Jazeera.
